Ive been trying to book for a table for 2 for a number of months but its always fully booked out. Its easier to get a table for 4 but not everyone is willing to splurge over $300 and indulge in 4.5 hours seating over 17 courses. So when were invited to join another couple for dinner at Attica, I said yes right away! Finally we got a table on Friday night! Attica is voted as the top 50 restaurant in the world and #1 restaurant in Australasia. Attica chef Ben Shewry was also featured on the Chef Table tv series about the most renowned chefs in the world. Whilst it has gained international recognition, the restaurant itself is located at Ripponlea suburb, nothing Hollywood or flashy about the location. Its like your local restaurant, walking distance from the train station. The staff were attentive and friendly. We were seated near the open kitchen. We also ordered the non alcoholic pairing drinks. The food and drinks are out of this world and love the glassware and crockery they use! Attica has taken fine dining to a different level and definitely worth the special occasion if youre lucky enough to get a table!

    Truly an experience
I had very little idea about what to expect upon coming but I knew I was going to be in for something special.
The food ranged from dishes that were familiar in flavour and appearance to out there and almost confronting in taste. There were times where I was not certain about something I was eating but on reflection was amazing and pleasantly surprised by the tastes and textures of the food we were eating.
The staff were friendly and helpful especially at time we were unsure about how a dish was supposed to be eaten and I didnt feel like I was being judged for asking a question.
Also big points for making the vegetarian menu as tasty and exciting as the normal menu.
Overall a very pleasant evening and certainly a fine dining experience worth having.

    3.5.

Good, but not as amazing as you’d expect for the price or notoriety. I’ve eaten at some of the best 3 michellin starred restaurants around the world – I feel I’m qualified to make this judgement. It seemed the food was focused more on novelty and history rather than taste. The service, while attentive and fun, was too casual and more suited to an upscale cafe. The ambience; a bit meh overall, very loud. Not befitting of a top 50 restaurant. Don’t get me wrong, we had a great night, I guess my expectations were too high. Not sure what all the fuss is about.

Getting a booking here is not easy but I did succeed after two months on the waiting list and I can say without a shadow of doubt that this was the best restaurant experience that I have ever had.
For a restaurant that is in the top 50 in the world it is unpretentious externally and internally but with a very pleasant ambience. Yet from the time we entered till the time we left we felt so well looked after.
We had no idea what to expect except that it was Aussie and seafood based, which influenced my choice of wine from the vast range available. Every course that arrived was well described and not only looked good but was a taste sensation. We even were escorted outside after a many courses for some fresh air and a serving of souvlaki Attica style and then returned to our table to complete a memorable meal and experience.
Despite the many dollars spent I will like to be back again and again.
(I could not include pics of every course)

Exquisite is the word! Finally get to dine here after a 3 months advance booking.
Ambience : 5/5. Situated in a nice and quiet suburb of Ripponlea. The restaurant was warm, inviting and perfectly lit. Elegant and cozy decor which gave me a very intimate feeling.
Food : 5/5. Australian fresh produced from the best. Ingredients were seasonal. Beautifully staged 17 dishes each with an individual story. Presentation was immaculate and the platings were elegant. Food was delicious and full of delicious flavors.
Service : 5/5. Service was great. The waitress was very knowledgeable when presenting the dishes. Although it was a 4-hour degustation dinner; we were very impressed with the hospitality shown.
Was here for spring, will definitely come back again for another season.

Hard to believe we were lucky enough to experience such an unforgettable dining opportunity.
    Service was exceptional.
The 17 tasting dishes were magnificent in preparation, freshness, taste and overall quality.
A fantastic wine list with a serious intent to impress.
Only reason for not giving a higher score was the quite noisy atmosphere which precluded easy conversation.

Extremely pleasant visit. Booked Attica three months in advance.
Was very surprised that the environment was relatively casual. The noise factor was actually quite unbearable for a fine dining place.
Decoration and table set up were classy and fancy but the noise level made the experience slightly uncomfortable for my liking. But I suppose considering how it was named 20th in the Worlds 50 Best Restaurant of 2018, it ultimately turns this into a tourist attraction.

Food were extremely well presented. Most snacks had a history related to Ripponlea which were very well thought out. The ingredients used for the dishes were exquisite.
I must say, that I quite enjoyed the vegemite scroll- I usually dont like the taste of vegemite but this scroll got me wanting seconds!

My least favourite dish was the carrots- this has a unique liquorice taste to it which definitely wasnt suited for my pallete.

    Food: 4.5/5
    Service: 3.5/5
Special thanks to Lyndle for making the night more appreciative. Your service, especially your friendly smile and jokes were wonderful to see and hear. I do really appreciate your service for the night! Keep up the great work!

    Ambiance:4/5
