We went back after not being there for 3 months and wow we wont be going back. It WAS the best Indian in Melbourne but we were so shocked by the tasteless frozen fish water curry and Fluro green gosht paleo that I had to call and see if they had changed hands. And they have. 🙁 we will miss you!

Been eating here for many years and the food is generally quite good but the curries have become very mild, presumably to cater for the weak patrons with no courage and generally a lack heat imagination….

    Where is the chilli?

We always have a great time at Bala Da Dhaba. There is always great service and the food is the best Indian in Melbourne. If you want it hot, it will be hot. We love the CTBM, lamb madras and Goan fish curry. The naan is always fresh and so tasty. Highly recommend

This is the best Indian restaurant in Melbourne hands down. You can’t go past their malai kofta – it’s unbeatable!! The waiters are all really friendly.

This place has plenty of space to host a big dinner or a decent size part. I landed late night straight from the airport to Melbourne city and the first recommended restaurant was this place. What I ordered was just basic stuff but what got me started was the service, the staff were warm and welcoming ensuring they serve us the best way possible. Papadams were generously floating around as I delved into it. The enteree ordered were seekh Kabab and paneer tikka which I reckon was awesome. The mains were goat curry and dal Makhani, I would strongly advise to try the goat curry which was amazing and well cooked the meat was tender and so were the spices carefully blended. The plain naan and garlic complimented the main dish beautifully. The staff was prompt in delivery and ensured it was a good experience. This is a bit high on your pocket though but worth it considering it was just a small indulgence!!!!!

    Cheers

Very nice traditional Indian cuisine. We sat near the back and could see the chef preparing food (always good when you’re trying somewhere new). Butter Chicken & Lamb Rogan Josh were highlights. Clean and tasty.
