Ripponlea Food & Wine has a perfect corner position on Glen Eira Road opposite Ripponlea Station. I was invited to try their Express Lunch menu which is available Monday to Friday between 11am & 4pm.
Offering 2 courses plus a glass of wine & coffee for $35 or 3 courses for $42, the Express Lunch is an amazing deal & perfect for business lunches or catch ups. As youd expect from an express lunch, the service is fast & efficient which is ideal for the time poor.
I loved the interior of this venue. Dimly lit, moody with stunning lighting. One section is set up with tables & the other has super cool booths & seats at the bar. They also have an area that you can book for meetings and functions.
The Express Lunch menu is limited which makes it easy to choose from. We decided on 2 courses, washing it down with wine which is on tap & coffees.
We ordered the Mushroom, white truffle & parmesan croquette served with a rosemary aioli and the Chipotle Prawns on crostini served with butter lettuce and crispy onion. Both entrees were superb, the croquettes were creamy & soft and the prawns were perfectly cooked.
For mains I selected the Spaghetti with broccolini, basil, lemon zest & goats curd. The flavours married so well together & the goats curd added a rich & creamy texture. It was a generous serving & I didnt get through it all. My friend ordered the Chicken, leek & tarragon pot pie with home-made tomato relish. Another fantastic dish with a top of deliciously flaky puff pastry.
The service was also fantastic, the girl who served us was clearly passionate about her job & it made for a memorable experience.
My friend has since introduced her father to Ripponlea Food & Wine and he now takes clients there regularly.
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience & highly recommend both the Express Lunch and also the venue in general. Thank you so much for such a great time.
Good. Great. Fantastic. The food was lovely. We over ordered. Had a good waitress who was attentive and prompt and listened to all our orders. The food was really delicious. They forgot to give us the potatoes but we didnt really need them anyway. The fish tasted lovely and the cauliflower was a highlight and so was the Brocholini. I recommend this as a good place to visit. Also the eggplant chips were awesome.
I came here with a group of friends last minute late on a weeknight.
Modern Australian in a dark moody intimate setting. Lots of soft lighting, wood, dark metal. I enjoyed my experience here. This feels right for the Ripponlea market. I particularly enjoyed the musings of the sassy staff. She had spunk that’s for sure.
