I didn’t expect much from this place when I ordered the seafood basket here, but it was actually pretty good. The piece of fish they gave was really big. It might have been flattened a little but nevertheless the size was generous. The calamari and prawn were most likely of the pre-packaged, frozen variety. The prawn was butterflied and crumbed, so it looked a little bigger than it really was (it was quite small). The calamari ring wasn’t real calamari inside. The scallop looked really big as well but it was mostly batter, and the seafood stick was decent.
That said, the highlight for me was the batter. The seafood pack was served very hot and fresh, and the batter was very crispy. That made the food quite nice to eat even though the ingredients weren’t the best. The fish was also done well and the chips were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The main negative was the pack didn’t include tartare sauce. Not sure if they just forgot or if it doesn’t come with it, but I would expect it to come with at least one sauce. Kind of a big deal if I wasn’t heading home to eat it.
For $14, it was a very filling portion and quite worth the price. The standard fish and chips only costs $7 or so. All things considered, I think I would prefer a fish and chips from this location rather than many of the sea side fish and chip shops that tend to be pretty mediocre.
