So wanted to like this place but alas, it was just another bad Sorrento meal. Chilli jam in corn fritter dish was sickly sweet and acted as a ‘bed’ to the fritter so permeated every mouthful. Everything needed to be seasoned. Also my partner got the dish without the bacon and was charged as much and not allowed to substitute anything else- just creates bad will towards a place. Food took ages to come out- get it, it’s a busy cafe at peak of summer but you just gotta bite the bullet and hire more kitchen staff.
Dined here on Sat night. For entre I had the cured kingfish and hubby had the pan seared scallops. We both enjoyed our entrees good serving size and delicous combo of flavours. For main I had the smokey lamb ribs and hubby had the spiced lamb backstrap. Again we both enjoyed our mains. My lamb ribs were tasty and the meat fell off the bone and melted in my mouth, just the way ribs should be. Service was friendly. Place got quite busy/full so make sure you book beforehand. When we got the bill we were also given a loyalty card for a discount when we return so we will be back to try other menu items.
The service was lovely and so is the food. The dessert was by far an absolute stand out. I recommend that if you are in the area, that the chocolate and rhubarb fondant is not something you want to miss. In fact if you do give it a miss it would be a crime.
The rest of the meal had some real highs. I loved the beef cheek, but the pumpkin gnocchi not so much. The children’s menu was nothing special but it generally isn’t and our little ones were happy so overall it was very enjoyable.
Incompetent staff. The manager had absolutely no idea/personality. $28 chicken salad that was shredded cabbage & lettuce, very bland. Got our other order wrong. The nice interior was the only reason we gave this place a second chance & as a local, we won’t be returning due to the same mistakes occurring. Really disappointing. Don’t bother.
It’s a no from me Mr. Morce
This was our third trip to MM and again it didn’t fail to deliver. Thursday night Steak Night is an absolute treat and great value for money. Their coffee sourced from Jamaica was also one of the best you’ll have anywhere
Unhappy barrister making life hard for everyone. Place was basically empty, yet 4 take away coffees took 25 minutes. We should have read the warning signs when the customer before us was complaining. I would rather chew on a blurter than drink the beans from this venue.
One of the worst breakfasts I’ve had in some time. Previous review as below…what a decline!
–Has taken over from an old stalwart – the Smokehouse.
The food is pretty good for the most part, and I highly recommend the chilli squid and the burger.
Coffee is good, especially for the area.
Service is friendly, if at times can be a bit slack.
The fitout is pleasing, with lots of clean white paint and a reasonable inner courtyard. The seats on the street are a nice place to watch the world drift by.
