Go anywhere else but here if you are in the area. Incorrectly priced items (marked as $3.50 on the shelf but charged $4.50 at the counter for a golden gaytime – ridiculous!). I had a smoothie bowl which was revolting. Do NOT go here.
A local gem, and an unexpected beacon of really good food on the peninsula.
Terrific burgers- yes that does taste like the Big Mac sauce-, lovely focaccias, chips and a delicious brownie.
No waiting, food already prepared.
Return visit on same weekend- better than being disappointed elsewhere.
Only down side, not much seating, really a take-away joint.
What happened! This place used to be the heart and soul for locals ( and to be honest even tourists). Now its super lifeless and crazy expensive. Bring back the locals.
There are only positive reviews of the St Pauls Road General Store on this site, so I’m presuming that my experience today is not the norm. Sadly we did not finish the food we ordered to take home – the rolls on the cheeseburgers were dry and the beef patties overcooked – most likely a result of food being pre-prepared and displayed in the bain-marie to be able to serve the holiday crowds. Prices were very reasonable and service was friendly.
There were many people eating in and taking away – I’m sure our experience was out of the ordinary.
Nice little general store off the main street. Went there for the burgers so basing the rating on that.
Had the cheeseburger and it was alright, nothing to write home about. I guess Melbourne burgers have raised the bar really high. Still waiting to find a burger that comes close while on the Peninsula.
Aside from the burger, they made a decent coffee and the staff seemed nice. Plus a great place to pick up some drinks or ice cream with not many shopping centers around.
Excellent burgers in a casual setting, away from Main Street in Sorrento. Will make my way here again. Had the outlaw burger, panko crusted beef patty and an awesome mustard based sauce. Friend had the Deluxo, with 1.5 chicken crusted panko. All for less than 20 for 2 pax.
Best burger I’ve ever eaten by far. Such a hidden gem and from the outside you would have no idea it would be this good. I live in Hawthorn with plenty of burger choices but this nails it perfectly.
