Gas on Coventry street is very close to south Melbourne market. Reasonably priced and we really enjoyed our dishes. I had the lamb pastry is was well favoured and heated enough for my liking.
As for the breaky bowl it was very well made, all ingredients went well together. I particularly liked the banana drizzled with honey. And all fruits were fresh produce. The porridge was just warm perfect for the 40 degrees day when we visited.

We had their smoothies (morning goodness and breakfast zinger), the only con I’d say is that it wasn’t chilled enough! The quality was good, but we wished it had more ice in the 40 degrees day. Gas didn’t have the air con on unfortunately. So that wrecked the experience a little. Overall service was great food was good!

I used to love Gas Eatery but the last year it’s been hit or miss. I had french toast once and it was amazing. It was a special and sadly not on the set menu. I have been ordering Mediterranean Madness for over 3 years. It used to be listed on the menu as Fritanga. Maybe different chef or ingredients but it’s not as good as it was during the first two years. Coffees are good. Service is usually good but when busy the staff seem flustered. At times I have waited 15 minutes just to get a menu and order coffee. I would receive my food after a long wait but no cutlery. The cutlery holders on the tables are often empty and you have to request some at the counter.

Have always enjoyed this cafe as a every now and then experience but lately have been frequenting Gas a few times a week for my local coffee fix. Coffee is amazing (I believe the use single origin as their standard), service lovely and has a wonderful outside seating area (which can now be utilised seeing the sun is out). One of those cafes that are just consistently great.

Lovely Middle Eastern-influenced cuisine; lots of meat /mezzo/flatbread/grain salad selections, portion was very generous, outdoor seating available – great for when the sun’s out.

Had the croque madam. Gave me energy for the entire day! Very tasty i recommend. Good long black. Service is decent. Great atmosphere. Will come back.

Bircher muesli was delicious! The portion was huge. Amazing coffee but wasn’t hot enough. Would definitely come back again!
