Four of us stopped for lunch here today. The place services a lot of the offices nearby, so was quite crowded at the peak of lunch hour, but cleared up by the time we finished our meal. A simple, no fuss dining setting with reasonable prices.
The rice paper rolls and spring rolls were average. The skin of the rice paper rolls was quite springy, which was good, but there was a lot of filler noodles in it and not much meat or prawns, so it was quite tasteless without dunking it in sauce. The spring rolls also didn’t have much ingredients inside it. That said, both of these are served up quite similarly in many Vietnamese restaurants around Melbourne, but that’s also why I seldom order these dishes.
The pho was also pretty standard fare and a decent portion. The sliced beef was quite clumped up, so it seems like a chunk of it was dunked in rather than slices put in to cook in the soup. The crispy chicken was submerged in the soup when it was served, so obviously it was no longer crispy. It was ok, but the meat was a little tough considering it was thigh on the bone.
All in all, it’s a decent place for a meal if you live nearby but not really worth traveling to get to.
