Had a serving of the paella here, which was cooked out in the walkway and obviously meant to attract passer-bys with the aroma. The paella looked rich and flavourful, but didn’t have much taste. The amount of seafood that came with it was ok, nothing to write home about. Quite a let down considering how many times we’ve walked past and always seeing people eating it.
Nice atmosphere here but there are better places for paella.
We were welcomed with great customer service, and this place had a great buzz to it. We had an amazing dinner. The food was so delicious, packed with flavor and love! We would recommend Simply Spanish to anyone!
We recommend: the beef cheek, calamari croquettes, goats cheese balls and the smoked pork and mushroom paella! Yum!
Voted the best paella outside of Spain! Thanks to this reputation, the restaurant is generally busy so try to avoid peak market / meal times if you arent a fan of queues. The big pan paella is their signature dish and it was very flavourful and delicious, but I wasnt a fan of the other paellas (we tried the squid ink and vege one – both too dry and slightly over cooked). The tapas were quite good but expensive as portions were very small. Id just stick to the big pan.
I was passing by South Melbourne market and decided to give it a try this small Spanish place located right into the South Melbourne Market.
I had an Apple Juice, KingPrawns and Patatas Bravas. Very friendly people and the food was absolutely great. The prawns as you can see on the pictures were very nice presented and I can guarantee they were also very flavoursome.
This is a place to try a variety of snacks without having to necessarily commit to a big meal to be satisfied.
I really liked this place and Im definitely getting back again.
Came here had a late dinner after training at albert park. The Sangria was absolutely stunning. I ordered a second one but the waitress forgot. I guess it was good I was gonna drive home so 1 is good.
Food we had the Garlic Prawn, Chorizo croquette, mushrooms and the chicken chorizo paella. The Garlic prawn OMG its soooooo good! You gotta order this. Probably the best Garlic Prawn I have ever had and I love ordering this dish. Croquette wasn’t that impressive but still a good dish. Mushrooms were really lovely! Id order it again. But foe the Paella I may change it to some other ones. I remember their big pan ones were really lovely but it only serves til 3pm or sth. The chicken in our Paella was very dry and not seasoned. Chorizo in it was nice on the other hand. So we still almost finished it.
Will return! And they have a bourke st shop apparently. May try that at some point!
Simply food but not simply taste. Every time had lunch here when I shop in south melbourne market . Paella is pretty good for me, my friends always do take away even living very far away.will go back again.
I would definitely come back here just for the paella as it is actually pretty delicious but I will be skipping the little tapas plates as they weren’t overly amazing.
We had the provincial paella and every bite had a great distribution of seaford, meat and rice. Definitely worth having a try!
