It’s strange to see a very modern Skyscraper built around a very old villa..As if it was housed within the building.
Nevertheless, after almost 20 minutes wait we managed to grab a table and ordered two Hot Cakes and s Crispy Chicken Burger with our respective coffees and hot chocolates.
Honestly, nothing served was out of this world. It was decent and nice, yet lacked that wow flavors.
1 Hot cake would have been suffice between the two, which means we weren’t able to finish the two, and did a take-away. Also, Hot Cake was extremely fluffy and full of blueberries but still, it lacked something.
Decently prized and very amiable hospitality. Vegans and Vegetarians have decent choices to choose from.
I might have only been unlucky with my choice of food but please The Kettle Black tell me this is not how you usually serve your avocado dish. I have never seen anyone putting less passion and love into a dish and it made me wonder if the owner/general manager even loves what their doing cause I definitely didnt feel the love as a customer. I dont think you can even sell this as a dish to be honest and $18 for something I could have literally thrown together in 30 seconds at home and paid less than half is just a joke to customers that come for a food experience. This was not just disappointing, I also felt like someones having a joke with me.
There is no way I return for food and the only time you might see me is for a quick coffee. Sad – the venue itself looks promising.
Lovely sophisticated spot for brunch, decent service despite being so busy and buzzing with conversations. The food was delicious, we ordered the chilli scrambled eggs and the pastrami and loved it. Kale juice was interesting, tasted very healthy. Would love to return when I have the chance.
The Kettle Black is one of the most popular cafe in Melbourne. It is known for its instagram photo spot outside of the cafe. The place itself wasnt too big. It is famous for the hotcake. The hotcake was fluffy, and wasnt too sweet. The fruits added a refreshing touch to the dish. The cream was light, and not overwhelming. The mushroom on toast was flavourful, but nothing too special. The chili scrambled egg was average. It lacked flavour, the egg wasnt too fluffy. Overall, none of the dishes stood out. I dont think Ill revisit this cafe soon.
Our go-to cafe, and not just because we live right next door! The decor is beautiful and classy, the food is delicious and gorgeous (and one of the most Instagrammable) and to top it off, the staff are super friendly and nice, probably the best and most consistent service of all the cafes weve been to.
I ate cured wallaby here! Unique menu, long queues for brunch all the time. Coffee is great. There was a line for coffee take away and it was packed.
Food atmosphere and vibes on point! Had the Chilli Scrambled Eggs with Mooloolaba Crab, Crayfish oil and Sea Spray – pure YUM. Silky scrambled eggs with a strong spicy kick, but just enough so as not to overpower the fresh crab natural flavour. Ricotta Hotcakes was evenly cooked despite being twice the size of my face! The nuts & seeds added fun crunchy bits but more toppings per hotcake ratio needed though – something more saucy perhaps. Loved the atmosphere of the place – old terrace building, clean interior
