Good newish sort of Japanese restaurant on sth wharf. Started with the kingfish sashimi and tuna tartare… bit light on with the tuna but it was delicious. Karage chicken was good as was the wagyu eye fillet, came with a warm teriyaki sauce… meat was tender as it gets and great flavours.

Service: 5/5!
Staff were very attentive and responsive and were super nice!
Food: 3/5
Sashimi was a 4/5, great quality with fresh taste!
Chicken karaage was also delicious and worth the money
The only thing that was disappoint was the beef, which was recommended by the waiter. It was $40+ but was of average quality and a very small quantity. 2/5
Overall i would recommend coming here for the sashimi and beautiful views overseeing the harbor! I would give akachokin a 3.5/5 overall if i could
Akachochin served contemporary Japanese cuisine. Ive dined here a few times and thought they were pretty good, but my last visit was very disappointing. I went there for a 5-course Christmas lunch and it took them half an hour to bring out each dish despite them knowing in advance the number of diners and the set menu. Overall, service was very poor, ambiance would have been better if they didnt fit too many tables in the area, food was pretty decent.
We had small sashimi, 5 small entrees and 1 wagyu beef as a main.
The entree was good, but the main is totally underwhelming. The wagyu beef is tough and grizzly, and the size is very small (tiny 5 pieces) for the price of $ 39
The entrees were quite okay but the again, the size was incredibly small for the price they charge, we couldnt believe our eyes. The chicken teriyaki was tasty but dry, the prawn was good, the cawan mushi was delicious but the size of your cupped palm (literally) and the croquettes was so mushy and oily.
For the price they charge, we better of going to Sake or Kisume restaurant. This is completely underwhelming experience. We definitely wouldnt recommend it.
SHIOJAKE OCHAZUKE – Green tea poured over rice seasoned with flaked grilled salmon oshinko, nori, spring onion and wasabi.
Rice was a bit plain in green tea but salmon was full of flavour and really tasty which balanced out when eaten together.
