A nice, cozy and forever-buzzing place in the heart of South Yarra, Abacus seemed to be THE place for Sunday Brunch.
There’s lot of character to the cafe by means of decor, open kitchen, and so much greenery around.
Ordered a Mackerel and Anchovies, Octopus Tentacles and Bacon’s over Beef with 3 Hot Chocolates
Hot Chocolates were delicious. Requested an extra Hot but don’t think they did.
Bacon over Beef was the winning dish of the day. Super moist and tender smoky Beef Brisket with Onion Jam was just delish. Bacon was cooked to perfection.
The Mackerel and Anchovies had a beautiful balance of sweet, savory and citrusy (acidic).
Octopus tentacles could have been little tender but no complaints.
Service was quick and efficient. Plenty for Vegan and Vegetarian to choose from. Pricing is a bit high for the portions they serve, although, everything served on.the plates tasted fresh, and thus, worth it.
Was highly recommended Abacus. Was really disappointed with the experience. Coffee was served warm in a cool cup, so the temperature of the coffee went from a hot to cold beverage in moments on a cool Melbourne morning. The fruit sourdough a few days old, the charred corn was raw and the enoki and potato hotcake was really under whelming, no flavour.
Worst of all no staff member came past our table to ask, how our meal was going.
