Tried the coffee+cake combo for $6.5. Nice micro-foam in the cappuccino, yet the shot was somehow lack of flavour. The lemon and pistachio cake was a bit dry though.
Not sure why but when I think of baklava, I think of Abla’s. Maybe because the first baklava I tried was from Abla’s. Crispy little morsels of sweet and nutty deliciousness, the baklava here, and also the walnut bird nest, are just the right amount of sweetness for me. I’m also a fan of their vanilla slice, which is quite a messy and ugly looking thing but tastes wonderful. Creamy velvety custard between layers of flaky and thin pastry, with a lashing of powdered sugar on top. Not a big fan of their cakes and biscuits though, I found them both to share common problems – dry and crumbly. However if you’re going to order coffee, you might as well order a cake for a total of $6.50. But do take note that the price of each finger sized treats don’t come cheap.
Wow! Can’t wait to get back to Prahran Market! Abla’s Patisserie has the very best vanilla slice I have ever eaten. Crispy, crunchy pastry and melt in the mouth filling. I should have bought a few of these delicious slices, absolutely sensational!
After a pig out at Prahran Market’s food stalls, check out their Baklavas and very crispy vanilla slice! It’s a far cry from those generic vanilla slices with a cardboard-like top wafer, this is the best!
This is one of the most amazing middle eastern dessert shops I’ve come across. The staff are so friendly and the desserts are mouth watering! The Galaktoboureko (custard squares) is something I randomly discovered and its become my favourite dessert! So good I had to take two boxes back to Perth with me! Highly recommend this place!
Delicious. Friendly staff. Fresh baklava and good coffee
Not sure if this establishment is related to the wonderful Carlton restaurant, Abla’s, but if it is then I am genuinely surprised! I just purchased 2 Lady’s finger pastries that were about 2 inches long with very little filing and I was charged $2 each. Even if they were amazing they were overpriced but for what I got they were totally overpriced by at least $1.90 each. Definitely not worth a visit!!!!!!
