Enjoyed lunch with friends in the indoor green courtyard. Delicious avocado toast on crispy pumpkin and grain toast, disappointed when the eggs came already cut… nothing like cutting it yourself and seeing the runny yolk. Unfortunately they were more like semi boiled eggs too. Very generousserve, 2 toasts. Loved the flavours and the addition of pepitas. My friends liked the burger and Mexican spiced beans, Heuvos Rancheros. Nice variety of choices on the breakfast menu. You can order breakfast until 1pm. We didn’t order from the lunch menu as we found it too expensive. Quick service and great atmosphere.
We have a group of 5 having a small Xmas breakout lunch. 3 of us ordered the crab spaghettini, one ordered a burger and another had gnocchi. And calamari to share which turns out to be good. Ginochi and burger were good too. After this its all downhill. French fries from burger was soggy and limp and the worst were the crab pasta! They were dry without much sauce and the crab meat was so minced and mixed with eggs that we dont really know if we are eating crab. Disappointed!
The coffee was unimpressive and disappointing. Fortunately, their meals were of a better standard to compensate. Although an uninteresting menu, they were able to offer enough crowd pleasers that well cooked well enough to keep a stomach happy. Would visit only if I was local and out of alternatives.
Was in the mood for a healthy lunch and spotted the Gramercy Social walking up Commercial Road. Cafe/restaurant with nice fitout. Had the raw veg bowl and added grilled chicken which was delicious and healthy. Only negative was for $26 the portion and price too expensive and not enough.
Its been years since I visited Gramercy Social. Since we dined the menu has been freshened up to include burgers and a range of other share foods vs the largely single serve meals that we experienced.
Tonight we sat in the indoor outdoor front bar and joined the masses of race goers from the Caulfield cup trying to keep warm. Helping us warm up was a rather flavoursome old mate pale ale and Kellie was having the chambord sour cocktails which were part of their sours specials today… shes a big fan of this taste from her favourite french martini and it didnt disappoint. The place had quite the vibe because of all the race goers and we settled in for a couple of rounds before going to dinner across the road.
Must come back for a meal some time soon as the menu looked impressive. Definitely atmospheric.
