Been there couple times. Noodle was OK. Ordered for take away and realised doesnt match order after get home. Very disappointed. Only tried their beef noodle and not sure about other dishes. Was disappointed today the soup was too salty, very unusual compare with my past experiences
Master Ma is a jack of two trades, but only master of one. Serving not just Xinjiang cuisine but also Lanzhou noodles, we decided to order a dish each from both cuisines to share, and of course, we also couldn’t go past the lamb skewers.
The lamb skewers were rather ordinary – fairly tender but lacking the richness and strong flavour associated with lamb.
A nice touch here is you can order the (big plate chicken) for 1 and it’s called the (small plate chicken). I was quite surprised at how similar it tasted to a Malaysian Curry Chicken, albeit spicier and much oilier, and it tasted nothing like those that I have tried in other Xinjiang restaurants. Maybe someone can enlightened me on this? The rustic hand cut noodles were excellent though; thick, chewy with a firm bite.
The noodles are definitely the star here, as proven again by the dry beef noodle. Lanzhou noodles are legendary and it’s not hard to see why. Incredibly springy yet chewy, and a perfect balance of soft and firm texture. Unfortunately, the dish itself tasted average and again, very oily.
Not much to offer in term of service, but food is served promptly. Despite the average experience, I’m weirdly tempted to return to try the other dishes, mainly because we saw another diner raving about the lamb pilaf rice, and the noodles are awesome!
Came here twice for the pan fried and mixed chicken rice noodles. Really nice noodles and flavour. Not very much chicken or veges but portion size is really big.
Only complaint would be that the chilli skins are a bit tough.
Service is friendly but their English isnt that great, not that its a big problem.
Main dishes (noodle and rice) are really good. The noodle is handmade and chewy. The cold dishes we ordered did not match the picture in the menus and tasted bland. The skewers were tasty but it took too long to arrive 🙁 overall good noodle but there is space for improvement
