Stumbled across Mopho one Sunday whilst wandering around the area. Found a table outdoors at the back of the restaurant because it was a nice day. I ordered a soft drink while I checked out the menu. I had a salad of tuna and basil and it looked and tasted amazing. To accompany my main I also ordered some greens. The food was well priced and the service was friendly. I liked the fit out and will be back.
Wanted to treat myself to a nice lunch for once while I had a day off, and decided to try this place out as I had a voucher to use. Called the restaurant beforehand to confirm I would be able to use the voucher for a takeaway order, and the staff member that picked up was uncertain but eventually hesitantly said it should be ok. Needing a yes or no, instead of checking with someone else he simply said should be so gave him the benefit of the doubt and ordered. I went for the soft shell crab salad and spring rolls and regretted doing so upon getting my food. It took me about 2 minutes to get home to dig in – so the food was still fresh and warm (on pick up I watched them finish my order and pack it up for me). However the spring rolls, though thick, were pretty lacking in flavour and a nice crispy texture. The salad, I believe, should be renamed as it consisted of a whole soft shell crab (which is great), but literally a couple of leaves (less than a handful!) and some strips of spring onion… I ended up shredding the lettuce the spring rolls came with in an attempt to make the dish more of a salad and to balance out the crab as it was so greasy by itself. Just glad I had a voucher as their prices are pretty steep for what I got. The meal left me queasy and regretting my choices…
3.5
Traditonal Vietnamese cuisine offering a variety of starters, banh mi, pho and drinks.
Ambiance:
Upbeat pop music with pastel modern interior and a few tables outside.
Service:
The waiter was very friendly and informative advising the pho is the signature dish.
Starters:
Fresh slices of lettuce come with the sides.
Pork spring rolls are great. A crispy skin and the meat is slighlty spicy and juicy.
Salt and pepper tofu is firm, lightly fried and the salt and pepper makes it flavoursome.
Mains:
Beef pho which comes with rare beef and brisket is okay. The soup is salty and strong but the noodle were soft and meat was thinly sliced.
