Yummmmm!!! Had the custard/vanilla? slice and it was soo good!! The filling was so fluffy and not too sweet – The pastry was well cooked and went well with the chocolate on top. Coffee was good too. The only downside could be they are quite pricey… $7 for a slice is probably one of the most expensive slice I ve ever had- but it is good quality indeed.

Situated between the deli arcade and the courtyard at the Prahran Market, Q Le Baker is a fairly new addition to the market with a French flair. A full scale bakery selling a verity of baked goodies from fancy artisan loaves to sweet slices and savoury pies.

We tried a vanilla slice today. The added caramel in a vanilla slice doesnt work for me. The consistency of the filling is rather jelly-like, and the pastry was burnt and bitter. We were sadly disappointed.

Their coffee was reasonably good. However a large is more like the size of a small or at most medium at most other places.

    Services were prompt and friendly.

I spied some lovely pastries and bread on display and that was all it took for me to make a beeline over to Q Le Baker. A very friendly and helpful girl behind the counter was there to help me make up my mind on what to get, and I left with a vanilla slice, ginger beer fruit bread, and a skinny latte. A simple haul that was fairly pricey.

The vanilla slice, unfortunately, didn’t impressed me. While the taste was nice, the custard was too thick in consistency, and the puff pastry was a bit hard too. The ginger beer fruit bread was much better. It was a rich and dense loaf, and if Christmas had a smell or taste, this was it! The top was rather burnt though, but surprisingly that didn’t affect the taste much.

The skinny latte was smooth, balanced, and very easy to drink. Could be a bit more stronger though but that’s just my personal preference.
