Today Reverie Cafe played host to the charity event “Cooking For Australia” where owner Pierrick Boyer along with three other well known chefs created unique canapé dishes with donated ingredients to provide urgent funding to fire relief charities. The standard of food was exceptional as was the generousity of serving staff and chefs for donating their time to such a good cause. Much of the food we tried wasn’t from the menu but Pierricks contribution to the canapés came in the form of decadent almond chocolate cake, lemon meringue, berry brownies and hazelnut soft and crunch ( the texture of this last one was something else indeed). A name change to this venue from our last review but still the same quality food and a wonderful atmosphere.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Previous ReviewToday we dined on a bloggers table at the recently opened Pierrick Boyer Cafe Patisserie. This cafe is light and bright with soft tones, green plants which was a lovely cheerful welcome on a wet and wintery day. We were lucky to be joined by Pierrick himself, who talked us through his journey so far and decision to leave Le petite gateaux, where he was head chef, and start his own cafe/patisserie.As a table we shared a range of brunch items including Eggs Benedict/ Florentine, chill crab scramble, croque madam, shrooms, ricotta hotcakes and sides of hash browns and ham croquettes. The Hash Browns with a super crunchy coating, yet thick soft salty potato filling, I can describe these in one word, incredible. These are a must try side addition to any order. We had Eggs Florentine with Kale and also the Eggs Benedict on a ham hock, both dishes had hollandaise sauce that was OMG amazing and absolutely authentic. I think this will be the only way I eat kale from here on in. (Loaded in hollandaise!). The ham hock meat in the Benedict was generous and tender but most importantly, flavoursome.I don’t normally choose Shrooms but these were an exceptionally flavorsome mushrooms on toast. These shrooms were cleverly layered over the top of some sticky onion jam, a real winning combination. The chilli soft shell Crab scramble had a fab hit of fresh chilli, for me it was the perfect amount, not enough to destroy your taste buds, but a substantial kick start for brunch. We also tasted the Croque madam, with a great bechamel cheese and ham combo topped with a fried egg. The fried sourdough is a crunchy and savory hit.Last but definitely not least, The ricotta hot cakes baked with rhubarb, they were not too sweet, the sprinkled nuts and seeds gave a great crunch and lightened up these hot cakes. I am very biased over anything containing rhubarb but certainly recommend you try this dish.We finished off our meal with a generous selection of patisserie cakes which were decadent in so many ways. These were all made in house and with much care. My favourites included the Charlotte Fraise, and the Charlotte Tiffany, layered dessert with a sponge with a delicate chocolate mousse was the most delicious combination of either strawberry or blueberry in the Tiffany blur version.I also loved the Tiramisu tart which had subtle coffee flavour in a rich chocolate filling. This was encased in the most delicate pastry shell, I loved the short crumb and lovely cream on top. Pierrick Boyer Cafe/ Patisserie run cooking classes for both adults and kids, plus they will soon be bringing in a range of delicious gelato flavours which I can’t wait to come back and try very soon. Thanks so very much for having us both in.

Always friendly, fresh and a beautiful setting for a coffee or full meal. Perfect Melbourne location! I love the other venues too (Ella and Doncaster) for a mix of vibes, but always the same excellent standard of food and coffee!

We’ve been here a few times and without fail each time the service has been quick, friendly and without issue. The food is delicious and we’ll priced, and the coffee is good too. It’s also rarely overcrowded so you’re likely to find a table quickly. Really can’t say anything bad about it, such an easy and good weekend brunch spot!
