We were invited to Steer last night and in a coincidental twist my Facebook memory told me we had been there four years earlier on the very same day (our first and only visit). Back then the location was slightly up the road, the atmosphere in the new restaurant is far better with a much warmer ambiance (old space was very dark).
I found the service super impressive here, I was even brought a little stool for my designer handbag which I had carelessly tossed onto the floor. I have never seen this before and really appreciated the gesture. We decided to engage in some fabulous cocktails rather than do a wine pairing given we were both driving. The drinks were fantastic and I wholeheartedly wished we had come in one car.
We opted for the five course degustation menu as recommended to try a bit of everything. Amuse bouche to start which included yummy bread and the stand out for me, steak tartare on rice cracker. Our first course was an exceptional wagyu tataki. I would definitely recommend ordering this dish even if you arent engaging in the dego.
We also had asparagus followed by octopus and then the main event. Wagyu with pea gnocchi and red wine jus. This was served with onion rings which delighted by husband to no end.
I would have liked to have tried some mash but adored the little gnocchi balls on the plate. It would honestly convince me to order the gnocchi as a main next time despite it being a steak restaurant. The steak was perfect and stunningly presented.
A refreshing little apple and lime palette cleanser next and on to desert. I saw some amazing looking desserts as other tables and wanted them all. We had salt baked pineapple with roasted white chocolate ice cream. Once again beautifully plated and a really clever little dish. Perfectly balanced and great flavours that paired well together as well as something a bit different and a nice light way to end the meal.
Petit fours to finish, the orange flavoured one was so yummy they should seriously consider making it a full sized desert! Overall outstanding service and delicious food. A really special experience

I thought I was being really thoughtful by booking this for my partners birthday dinner surprise because he loves steak. Sadly he couldn’t have been less impressed with me if I had organised a trip to McDonald’s on the basis he has been here before and found it pretentious. I was convinced he was being ungrateful and was determined to assess it impartially (which was actually quite difficult to do given how much he was complaining). I will agree with him on one thing the staff could stand to be a little less aloof but other than that it was quite a delicious experience (despite the fact the lighting was not exactly conducive to amateur food photography).
We shared a couple of entrees to start which were well presented and strongly executed. My favourite was the calamari which was delicately tender and fresh. Steak wise we received perfectly cooked meat full of flavour and an absolutely stunning bernaise accompaniment. Price wise Steer probably do sit above that of comparable steakhouses but the atmosphere was lovely and it’s a great choice for a special occasion. Your cheapest steak option here is $41 sans sauce so if you are on a budget check out the express dining menu which offers 2 courses for $40 with a drink (or 3 for $50)
Came here for a spontaneous dinner as we received a birthday gift card from Steer. The booking was flawless via google & Dimmi. Service is very good too, professional front of house staffs. The steak came quickly. Perfectly cooked. I would recommend anyone thats looking for quality high end steaks to visit Steer. The creme caramel dessert was comforting and a lighter finish to the meal.
Fantastic friendly customer service, especially the wine expert! The food came perfectly timed, quite quickly. The zucchini flowers were Devine. The chocolate brownie desert with peanut butter sorbet was to die for – my partner made us order another one! We had a wonderful experience!
Great service, fabulous interior. Visited for lunch and chose the 2 course with wine deal for $40. Great value! Parfait was very filling and came with cherries, not kumquat as described on the menu. Wagyu steak was not bad. Great place for business meetings and fancy lunches.

We came here for dinner the other night to celebrate a birthday . Food was sensational however the service was unfortunately for us below average
The menu offers a la carte as well as a chefs tasting degustation , we opted for a la carte as we both wanted a steak each and some entrees that were not on the tasting menu.
We started off with the F1 wagyu tataki , this was sliced to the perfect thickness and accompanied with a delicious dipping sauce . The presentation was wonderful and the meat was tender
The chicken liver parfait was one of our favourites , the pate was silky smooth and had depths of flavour , the cherries added the perfect contrast of sweet and savoury to this dish
For mains we ordered the A5 tenderloin and the A5 scotch fillet . Both pieces of meat was cooked to perfection, melting in the mouth and had different depths of flavours – both did not need the mushroom and bernaise sauce we got with them which is the epitome of a good steak- one which can stand alone on its one with just some salt seasoned on top. We got mash and Waldorf salad to go with which were both done well, the salad had a subtle blue cheese flavour and the mash was silky and creamy with a lot butter
For dessert we ordered the yoghurt panacotta with berries , strawberry and balsamic sorbet . All the flavours worked very well with another and I loved the unique balsamic. ( They added a happy birthday which was a great touch)
By the end of the night we extremely full and ready to leave . At this stage we were having a close to perfect experience however we just could not seem to get the bill. It took almost 20 mins to get someones attention , which we tried multiple ways to get such as asking a staff member who ignored us ( most likely didnt hear us) , putting our hands up which we realised wasnt working as no one was looking our way (?!) and turning our bodies towards the staff and staring at them for a few mins before we had to stop as it was getting awkward . In the end we just had to be rude and ask a staff member who had just finished/ almost finished with another table for the bill
I really wished I could score this place higher as the food was delicious but the service at the end really impacted our night .
I have been there many times. Their steak rotate depending on supply, so the good cuts arent always available. I have had a couple of really good steaks there but unfortunately they were always not available the next time.
I love their complementary bread and desserts. The whipped butter is so creative and different from other places. The little biscuits are so good even better then the real desserts if I can say so.
I can never resist their bloated onion rings but can never finish them.
3 course express menu $50. Loverly food, every dish was delish. $5 extra for sauce but comes with mustard. Had a side of greens, a nice crunch. Staff were like ninjas, loved it, will be back!
