PSA: There is a cheeky cancellation fee should you not pull through… and you must definitely need a reservation. There’s also a 5% discount on cash payments!

    Ordered:
Wagyu Eye Roll Steak (180g): The marble 8-9+ chunk contains moderate amount of fat in beef, therefore has very good flavor ($45.00)
Wagyu Ya Style Bibina: Spicy wagyu mince, vegies, kimchi, cheese and egg on top of the rice, served in hot stone pot ($20.00)
Inaniwa Cold Udon: Udon served with wagyu slice and soy sauce base ($28.00)
Edamame (v): Young fresh green soy beans with sea salt on top ($7.50)

    Review:
We were recommended by the waitress to have the eye roll steak cooked medium and it was perfect! Melt in your mouth delicious, I am getting upset that I didn’t order another serving . Wagyu Ya is definitely becoming a fast favourite in lieu of traditional westernized steak. There’s something about a delicate thin strip of meat and flavours that’s missed in a thick chunk of steak.

Bibina was also a good twist on the classic korean bibimbap. Having cheese melt into the rice and into the vegies gave it a creamy savoury taste.
There was insane childlike enjoyment from mixing up the rice itself. Hehe

Inaniwa Cold udon was also fun. I’ve never really taken the chance to dip my own udon because it seemed like an intimidating experience, but after trying it at Wagyu Ya I’m willing to give it a go other places!
The noodles get dipped into such a strongly flavoured umami-dense broth that when you pull out with flavours clinging onto the udon it’s just so minimalistic yet challenging that I’ve ended up falling in love with the experience.

We had wagyu cravings and this place met our expectations! We walked in and they managed to make space for us. We loved the wagyu yukke and the foie gras rice. The wagyu was melt in your mouth. We will be back!

This would be the most authentic and excellent quality wagyu BBQ restaurant in town. Great wagyu cut selections and the quick charcoal grill made them truly melts in your mouth. Dont really anymore strong dipping sauce, just light salt or soy to accompany the fatty meat flavours and tender texture. The sashimi platter is also very unique with the freshest selections of seafood and artwork like garnish.

Boyfriend took me here and blew my mind with the meat; its incredible how everything just melts in your mouth!!! Their combination fried rice (incl. foie gras and truffle) was breath taking. The flavours decadent and pungent, the perfect combination swirling in your mouth with every bite.
    Sashimi was standard.

Ive been wanting to try this place out for quite some time. We booked to dine in the charcoal grill area and if youre wondering, yes the bottom and top floor both throw off a different vibe. The bottom level seating looks like a typical restaurant, nothing special, however, the top floor looks very authentic. The interior screams Japanese. The top floor is dimly lit and theres also an area where you can sit on the floor – like a typical Japanese style restaurant and grill your meat!

The place opens at 5:30pm and we made an early booking for 6:00pm. When we arrived the place was already packed. They checked us off and then asked us to wait at the bottom level so they can clear our table on the top level. They advised us that people were still eating on our table and that we had to wait approximately 15 minutes. 15 minutes pass and no one came up to say anything to us. We asked one of the wait staff what was happening with our table she then advised us to wait another 15 minutes… by this time we were pretty annoyed. This was a pre-booked table and we still had to wait. We were given the option to eat our entrees downstairs but we didnt want to have the hassle of moving tables whilst we were waiting. Another waitstaff (big guy with glasses) approached our table and asked if we would like to order beforehand so we didnt have to wait later. He was very helpful and showed us what they had on their menu. Felt like he was the only staff that actually cared about the service. Take note, they dont always have every meat on their menu. They didnt have a lot of the m10 meat. Whilst waiting they did give us a bowl of edamame beans which I thought was really good customer service. The edamame beans were a really good waiting snack. They were coated in salt and oregano which was a nice touch.

Finally, after waiting nearly 45 minutes we were asked to move to the upper area. First entree we ordered was the Hokkaido scallops. Pretty sure I got cat fished. The photos are deceiving and they should update it as soon as possible. I thought it would be in the shell but it was just on the plate. They said they recently update the plating but please change the photo on the menu. The scallops were slightly over cook and were a bit chewy. I liked the miso sauce and the mushrooms (I think its shimeji mushrooms) were a nice addition.

Next we had the yukke. We were contemplating whether to order the wagyu yukke or the tataki and lets just say, no regrets. The yukke was delicious. The yolk made the raw wagyu so smooth to eat. I like the like crunches of the nutty almonds. A really enjoyable dish! Definitely recommend.

What kind of person would I be if I went a Japanese restaurant and not order any sashimi. We wanted to order the ocean trout belly but unfortunately they didnt have any in stock so we decided to go for the salmon belly. I wouldnt say it was melt in your mouth sashimi but it was still fresh.

Yay! Finally, the highlight of the night! Chargrill wagyu beef! We ordered the M10 short ribs, M9 tri tip, Oysters Blade, M9 Chunk Roll, Karubi and Pork Belly. Holy COW, the marbling looked heavenly !They were all so juicy and flavoursome. Its the good kind of fat that isnt too sickening. The meat just melted in your mouth. My favourite was the chunk roll. I couldnt really tell the difference between the grades. If youre cooking it all together and eat it off a plate, you would probably think they all taste the same with just a little difference in the fat. It takes literally 10 seconds to cook so be quick to turn of over. We also ordered rice to down it with. The pork belly is average, if I had to go back in time, I wouldnt have ordered it. But, who can say no to pork belly. Overall, meat was really juicy, tender and delicious. I really liked the presentation, something youll see if you were in Japan. The meats were cut thinly and placed on the board with the cardboard signs on it. Very traditional Japanese.

Lastly, we decided to order some ice-cream. We had the green tea and the black sesame. The black sesame ice cream was DELICIOUS! Probably one of the best black sesame ice cream Ive ever tasted. I would go back to order more. I loved the strong black sesame flavour. It was a delight to eat. GIVE.ME.THE.DAMN.RECIPE! On the other hand, I felt like the green tea ice cream was creamy, yet lacking in flavour. It would of been nice if the green tea was as flavoursome as the black sesame. Also, when paying, the helpful waitstaff advised us that the ice cream was on the house due to making us wait, which was very sweet of them!

Overall, I really enjoyed dining here. I liked the atmosphere, I liked the hands on experience, I liked most of the entree and the meat was delicious! I liked the customer service from that waitstaff. However, it was quite overprice. Will I return? I would however, I would like to try out their new restaurant, Niku, that recently opened instead.

This is the best Japanese valuable BBQ in Melbourne. The meat is very fresh, which very tender and rich of beef juice. just grill 5 seconds and then eat with raw egg, you even can tell the meat is sweet. except the environment is too small and too dark. every thing is good.
