I have been here many times for pizza and burgers but this time i opted for a more pricey dish, i ordered from the ‘Mains’ selection and after the great experience i had last week at Sakura Kaiten Sushi, i was still in the mood for Japanese food and the Miso Marinated Salmon caught my eye so went with that. Before i start of the food, every time i have been here there has always been a wait and the good news is the waiting area is right next to the bar so it’s a comfortable wait passing the time over a drink or two. Back to the food, my japan experience last year has made me a bit of an expert on what i expect when ordering Japanese and i love the fact that so many japanese inspired dishes are now available at non Japanese restaurants, cafes and pubs. When my dish arrived, my first thoughts were it’s a tad small for the $35 i was paying as i was hungry due to the very cold night. However visually the plating was impeccable and i could not stop staring at it. One mouthful and i was in heaven. Everything that was promised was there and more, the seaweed salad, dollops of mayonnaise and fine pieces of what appeared to be lemongrass were all bonuses and unexpected. The edamame beans and soba noodles were delicious and the star of the dish as it should be was the Miso Marinated Salmon, cooked perfectly and a melt in the mouth experience. I was still hungry after i had finished and had to tuck into my friends coconut rice which was awesome. I didn’t want dessert, i just wanted more of the salmon dish which is a real testament to the flavours. My friends’ who had the Parma Fratellino were not impressed and the clearing of the table whilst one of us was still eating was not appreciated. After he had finished his meal, his plate sat on the table for a good 20 minutes before it was cleared. Anyhow i chose well, a very refined an authentically flavoured dish and highly recommended.

Incredibly decadent, the gooey oozing lava cake is a welcome treat to the chocolate lovers. Unfortunately, it was too sweet and too chocolatey for me even when paired with the vanilla ice cream. 🙁
The interior and personable service was lovely, very instagram friendly with natural sunlight. When you get that much natural light coming through the floor to ceiling windows, the restaurant has a very ethereal feel during the daytime.
Definitely not a bad place to go for a catch up with views overlooking the Yarra.
