We visited Fatto bar and Cantina the other night which is just looking over the Yarra River. The interior is very moody and has great vibes.

We enjoyed the signature ‘Feasting’ package which consisted of many delicious course

The first was a board of salumi and cheese, the prosciutto and stracciatella was of high quality and we especially enjoyed the pickles in the middle

The citrus cured salmon with basil cream was a really light dish that had nice fresh flavours, we enjoyed this dish a lot

The wagyu carpaccio was probably our favourite dish of the night. This dish was mouth watering, the beef was sliced very thin and topped with truffle pesto , balsamic and broad beans . The balsamic really brought this dish to life so delicious

The spanner crab spaghettini was presented next with a fennel salad, really liked the bitterness of the grapefruit in the salad. The pasta had a generous amount of crab but we found it too acidic, adding a few grains of salt really lifted this dish

Lastly we shared the 300g sirloin which to my liking still had the fat caps attached, the meat was cooked to a medium rare and was very juicy we enjoyed this with chips and aioli, a very satisfying main

Overall the feasting menu is very generous and good value for money , the staff here are friendly and the view of the river is beautiful

    Thanks for having us !

We decided on Fatto before attending a performance in Hamer Hall. Its located adjacent to the foyer so very convenient.
The name and decor promises Italian food…. hmmmm
    Lost in translation I think.
    Very little offered gluten free
    Olives – warm and tasty
    Seasoned nuts – very good
Chips- shoestring uninspiring/ aioli all ruined by a carpet of paprika (not used in any Italian recipe I know of) yuk we sent them away no offer of a replacement or refund.
Music was some dreadfully loud doof doof which was totally wrong for the crowd and again did nothing to add any Italian ambiance.
So only the name is Italian- nothing else. Oh and the Aperol Spritz

Love Fatto! Not only is this the perfect spot to sit and enjoy on of the best views of Melbourne and to watch the world wander by, but the food is amazing.
We came in on a Sunday night for dinner and decided to indulge in their feasting menu. Starting off with some antipasti and an aperol spritz, you really cant go wrong. Perfect cuts of meat with delicious bread sticks, cheese and pickles is only the start! Their spanner crab pasta was my highlight, but it was also hard to fault the perfectly cooked sirloin that followed it out. By the end of this meal we were full to the brim, its definitely worth every penny!
With amazingly friendly staff and a great wine selection, definitely make sure you put this on your list for your next evening out!

I was lucky enough to be invite to sample Fattos signature Feasting menu, which was absolute delight! For $55pp, both the quantity and quality of the food is well beyond exceptional! Not only this, but we also enjoyed the lively atmosphere at Fatto as well as the magnificent view by the river at night.

We started off with a selection of antipasti – the Prosciutto, Wagyu Carpaccio, and Kingfish Tartare. The Prosciutto, served along with a delightful whipped buffalo mozzarella, was absolute perfection and exceeded our expectations in every way. Ibe never really been one to order salumi/cheese, however I think this dish may just have changed this! The combination paired extremely well together and the cheese was light, creamy and heavenly. The Wagyu Carpaccio was both a work of art and a flavour bomb – the truffle pesto added the perfect umami-ness and the generous sprinkling of shaved Parmesan elevated it to the next level. However, is have to say that the Kingfish Tartare was my absolute favourite – the pairing of creamy verde mayo with the crispy sago cracker provided wondrous textures and flavours in our mouths.

We then moved onto the Spaghettini with Spanner Crab, Lemon and Chilli, and a side salad of Rocket and Grapefruit. The spaghettini was extremely enjoyable – we loved the subtle lemon flavours and the texture of the breadcrumbs on top, and the pasta was cooked al dente. The side salad was nice and refreshing, the grapefruit added a good balance of sweetness and acidity.

We finished off with our main course which was a Sirloin steak cooked medium rare, along with a bowl of chips. The steak was tender and juicy, although there were small parts which were slightly chewy. However, the main highlight would have to be the chips – quite possibly some of the crispiest, fluffiest, most perfect chips youll try! The house seasoning (which has flavours of paprika) and the aioli is absolutely amazing – we completely devoured the bowl and couldve easily had another (despite feeling very full!).

Along with our meal, we were treated to a round of Aperol Spritz and a glass of white wine, which completed the whole experience. Dinner at Fatto definitely exceeded our expectations in every way, and I would highly recommend giving this place a go!

I was invited to indulge in Fattos signature $55 Feasting Menu, and it is well worth the money.
Warmly greeted by the manager, we were seated by the window overlooking Flinders Street Station.
It was a wet Sunday night, drops of rain staining the windows, and the orange hue from the station providing a warm, comfortable atmosphere.

A range of Antipasti arrived as first course:
    * Classic air dried prosciutto served with a chopped buffalo mozzarella, which was light, creamy and milky.
    * Kingfish cubes with fine zucchini noodles was refreshing, tangy and slightly creamy from the pine nuts. Beautiful on the tapioca crisp that looks like fish skin!
    * Wagyu carpaccio mind blown! The flavour hit is intense with the truffle pesto. The salty bits of cheese crystals from the parmesan hit you from another angle, and then the aged balsamic comes at the end and freshens you up again. One of the best dishes Ive had in a while, it was stunning. Although, recommended to chase each bite with a bit of crostini to balance it all out again.
    Second course:
    * Spagettini with spanner crab love the finer texture of the spaghettini. The simple flavours of lemon oil and crab make the dish so enjoyable to eat.
    * Roquette, fennel, blood orange, pecorino somewhat of a classic salad from the late 90s, the bitterness balances out the pasta.
    Third course:
    * 300G sirloin was beautifully grilled medium rare, and was surprisingly light in flavour. It was a fairly lean cut and was quite juicy.
    * Chips the best chips Ive had in AGES! They were so good double or even triple fried, they were so crispy on the outside and really fluffy inside. The seasoning of paprika and herbs was perfect and with aioli, I couldnt stop. I could come back and just have a bowl of chips and beer and be totally happy.
    Dessert:
    * Tiramisu & Tart didnt actually get any dessert, which is normally part of the Feasting menu, but just as well because I was absolutely rolling.
    * Aperol Spritz – good ratio between Aperol, prosecco and soda. Thumbs up for the paper straws.

Really great food in a central location, you can’t go wrong here.

Came to the launch event for the Fatto Pimms Pop up bar tonight. There was a Pimms cart making the perfect blends. The style is unmistakably summertime and you can relax on lingers with your Pimms cup or share a jug with friends. Fatto Bar has always done a great job with their affordable eats.

Called into Fatto Bar & Cantina ahead of a gig at the Forum (Angus & Julia Stone … they were great … especially Julia… thanks for asking). It was fairly quiet being a wet cold Sunday night but we were welcomed to our table. I had had the thought of just grabbing pizza or something at the bar side of this venue as advertising outside indicated $10 pizza and I was happy with the sound of that. Others in the group decided they wanted table service so we were presented with the full menu option instead.

It was quite a tasty looking menu with plenty of variety and vego options to suit some in the group. We had bread and oils plus olives and almonds to snack on while out the pastas we ordered were cooked. The spiced almonds were so tasty I pretty much devoured them alone.

We ordered double ups of the sage and burnt butter agnolotti pasta and the pork ragu with garganelli pasta. Both pastas were delicious. Sage and burnt butter was sensational especially with the addition of roasted pine nuts to the mix. Such a classic but delicious vegetarian option.

My pork ragu was tender and flavoursome and the pasta cooked a firm al dente. One in the group would have preferred their pasta cooked a little longer but that comes down to taste and Im not even sure if the average restaurant would cater to such a request anyway.

For dessert others chose a second glass of wine. The drinks menu here was actually quite good and the Paolovino Pinot Grigio was very reasonably priced by the glass and very drinkable.

For dessert I went against my standard creme brle choice and instead opted for the spiced quince and marsala tart. Something about quince, probably my childhood memories of my parents stewing a tree load of quince and apple from our farm but I couldnt pass it up and it was yum.

Service was friendly and we enjoyed our time despite the lack of atmosphere on account of being a rainy Sunday evening.

We were walking near the NGV and Southbank area with the free city tour and saw they had some happy hour specials so we went to get a couple of pizzas and drinks.

Very small pizzas ( but what else can I expect in $10), and the taste was good. Works well for an evening snack.
