We stopped by Gochi before a cocktail night as we had a better chance of obtaining a seat compared to the food court. Actually got my socks blown off a little because it looks like your average sushi takeaway but serves quite a decent bento meal.

For the price of sushi and the quality, it just doesn’t seem reasonable. I got a $3.80 crispy chicken handroll and it was cold, tasteless and such sour sushi rice. Even sushi sushi had better ones.

Average at best. The miso soup tasted watered down. The bento box special pork had a good flavour however the sashimi was a let down. Firstly, it was poorly cut, too thin and no consistency. The tuna pieces were tiny compared to the kingfish and salmon. Also we had to get out of our seats to hunt down a staff member to provide ginger – surely they should ask you when they deliver the dish if youd like some… a glorified take away Japanese place.

Maybe I’ve become too picky with dining expections, but I would not recommend this place unless you are starving to death and you don’t care about food quality or service!!

    Don’t expect customer service!!

I’ve only been to a handful of places where I felt I was unwelcome and they don’t want me to dine… Soon as I was taken to my table I got asked to place my order right away… I informed the waitress I would like a few min to look at the menu, soon as she walked away within less than 5 mins I was tapped on the shoulder by another waiter ask me to place my order… After placing my order the service worsened… When my food arrived the plate and Bento Box was dropped on the table not served ( I was on my phone at the time and jumped as the plate hit the table)!!

The hand roll sushi are way below average compared to sushi hub and sushi sushi. Bento Box are over price compared to other Japanese bento box served in CBD (but we are paying for the location as it’s at crown).

Miso soup – As you can see from the photo they’ve just add water to the miso without stirring. There was no taste to my miso more like drinking warm water.

Bento Box – The salmon in my Bento was so over cooked and dry, it taste like it was precooked and reheated before serving. The prawn tempura proved my assumption the hot foods in my bento box were all precooked and reheated before serving… It does make me wonder how long it was left sitting there before serving…

Mango mousse cake – It looks pretty and well plated, taste cheap and poorly made…

I would recommend to pay an extra $4 and make your way to the waiting room for dessert.

Average food but def a casual cheap place to sit down and take a rest. Assorted Nigiri (12 pieces) basically is just a few of salmon, tuna, cooked prawn and snapper sushi, ordinary no surprise. But the karaage fried chicken was actually pretty good, served hot and crispy on table, if ever coming to this place again…i would probably try their sushi roll…

It was a beautiful sunny day and I rarely get to soak up the city sun mid-week, a Gochi sushi in hand whilst walking along Southbank was perfect.

At $4.20 for a lobster roll was pricier than other sushi places however it is to be expected being at Crown. The quality and flavours were great so I would happily pay it again. The restaurant is tucked away from the food court so it offers a little more privacy which is nice. Not sure I would choose to come here if wanting a dine-in dinner but their convenient take-away options were great.

Pleasantly surprised. Loved the salmon pok. A bit pricey but servings were huge and tasted very fresh. Would definitely come back to try other menu items
