Its not easy to decide on which Thai restaurant to visit, given there are probably few in every suburb. However when the occasion is special then you got to choose a special one as Long Chim, for which I have heard so many rave reviews.
The ambience & decor was pleasing and contemporary. We ordered –
1. Dried prawns with Ginger & Toasted coconut – an amazing entree which was so perfectly flavoured that is easily one of the best I ever had.
2. Chicken Wings with deep fried shallots and cumin – cooked to perfection and the flavour of cumin was balanced appropriately
3. Grilled Barramundi curry – this was mind blowing with subtle flavours of basil & coconut cream. Again one of the best I ever had.
4. Thai Tea Ice Cream – this was an interesting fusion with pistachio and young coconut. I kind of loved the boldness in this fusion.
All in all, a great place for a classy evening with your family & friends to enjoy Thai food. Be mindful its not going to come too light on your pocket though. Portions are good I would say for a restaurant of this genre.
Ahhhhh finally a date night with hubby and we are off to see Crazy Rich Asians. Hubby always complained that I take him out to fine dining on our date night so I have decided, no, I am not going to frigging choose a place and we can go and have KFC cos thats what he likes. But then when we got to Crown he turned to me and ask: what would you like to eat?
Mind you we only got 40 mins at most and my mind raced. I have always always wanted to try Long Chim, but would 40 mins be enough? Would there even be seats available? It turns out, its yes to both questions.
Our matried quickly escort us to the table, told our waitress we are in a super duper hurry and bang bang bang our food arrived faster than Flash can flash.
Everything was delicious, the flavours are so well balanced and so on point. I know why people think that its a bit expensive and its not really worth it but until now so have been thinking of the beautifully complex saltiness and spiciness of the soft shell crab noodles, the moreish dipping sauce with the chicken wings, the delicately sweet crab in the fried rice thats spiced by the complex fish sauce and fresh chilli. And all washed down with a very refreshing cocktail.
The dessert wasnt too out of the world though. I had coconut black rice slice. Whilst I probably wont order this again next time, I do love the salty-sweetness of the dessert. I will be back

My husband and I dined at Long Chim for our anniversary this year. We love Asian-Fusion cuisine. Its unbelievably tasty and so flavourful and youd want to keep eating more. I love spicy food and certain Asian dishes give you that.
For drinks we ordered the pale lager beer and a Virgin Mary (mocktail).
To start we ordered the chicken satay, dried prawns ginger toasted coconut in betel leaves and the chiang mai larp of chicken. The satay chicken and the dried prawns were amazing! So much of flavour in them. The chicken larp is long chims famous dish as it is super duper spicy. It was really yummy but the spice level was so high that I couldnt enjoy the flavours in it. I still ate it though.
And as the main we ordered the fried rice with crab meat and green curry of chicken. It was the first time we tried the Crab fried rice and it was delightful. So soft and it blended so well with the green curry. Absolutely delicious. After the larp, we definitely needed dessert. So we ordered the Thai tea ice cream and the palm sugar pudding. The desserts were a tiny bit of disappointment to me as they werent what I expected to look like or taste like.
Other than that the food was amazing and I would definitely suggest to give long chim a try.
