Just by looking at my pictures, youd probably be asking me WHY ARE YOU GIVING IT 1*?!?! THE FOOD LOOKS GREAT!!
Unfortunately, for The Bond Store, the food looks a lot better than the taste.
Firstly, the cafe was huge and spacious, and we were seated immediately. The waitress serving my table was polite helpful but completely unknowledgeable of the menu shes serving. Youll see why.
We both ordered the soba salad with salmon, the superfood salad, and a triple cheese sourdough toast to satisfy our cravings but also sadly nullify our attempt of being healthy for the day.
The triple cheese toast was PERFECT when we first bit into it, but after 2-3 mouthfuls, we both felt sick from the amount of melted butter soaked into the toast and on the plate.
The salads were atrocious. Absolutely horrible. Do NOT order them. The soba noodles were served WARM and the texture was so soft (overcooked). It had lost all the delightful springiness of classic soba noodles. The salmon was alright, and was overcooked as well. The dressing was also very stingy, and the overall dish tasted plain.
Now, the superfood salad was EVEN WORSE. There was literally ZERO TASTE. All I tasted was plain boiled quinoa, and the entire dish was NOT seasoned. I dont even hint a taste of savoury or sweetness. The goji berries were very mildly sweet and it wasnt enough to save the dish. The whole dish just tasted like plain boiled food with a poached egg. I then asked the waitress whether its supposed to be seasoned or have any dressing, and she looked me completely confused. I then asked for a side dressing because the salad tasted like boiled water and she went back to the kitchen, talked to the Chef, and came back with a small bowl of SOY SAUCE. Wow. 0% effort on the Chef. Even the waitress looked embarrassed.
I ended up not having a proper meal that day, and left without touching it. The soba salad wasnt touched either, only the salmon was partially eaten. They ended up not charging us for the salads, which I do appreciate. However, the food was truly disappointing, and if you do wanna check this place out, order the sandwiches (most people do) and dont make the same mistakes as us!

Their coffee was good. I ordered the pork Benedict. The pork was a bit dry and I was looking for some sauce to balance it, unfortunately there was only the yolk from the poached egg and hollandaise sauce – there wasnt enough.
The burger tasted good! Would have liked something cooked rather than chips. Even if it was cut chips that would be nice instead of from a packet
It was good for grab and go. Some hit and misses.

The coffee is average and so is the food. However, its predictable yet reliable menu makes the experience overall, pleasant. Nothing offensive, just lacking the competitive, creative and quality edge its colleagues offer.
