Very nice place for seafood. We really liked their whole fish mains with lemon and caper butter, however since some time ago they have stopped offering whole fish as a main, which is very disappointing and somewhat odd since this is a seafood restaurant. Otherwise, they’ve got a good selection of entrees and mains – dishes that people are used to and will order (as opposed to funky fusion dishes at some other restaurants), and these are done well. Some other dishes we like are the pork belly and the mussels with white wine sauce.

Ambience is quite nice though it’s often crowded and a bit noisy. Service is not bad but not impressive – staff mostly do what they’re supposed to. Prices are fine dining level.

All in all, a decent place for seafood along Southgate.

    Meal: Dinner

Ordered: Red Wine, Snapper and Steaks

Having eyes Waterfront Southgate for a while, we finally got around to trying this place and were left very satisfied! After the initial confusion of our booking, we were finally seated at our table by the lovely staff. We ordered the snapper and steaks and they were yummy! The snapper was a work of art and we almost felt guilty eating into it! The selection of red wine was great too. All in all, a must try place if you are ever in the Southbank region!

I caught up with a friend here tonight who was craving champagne and oysters and was not disappointed. I was personally a little disappointed with the frostiness of our server, particularly given what we were paying. There was a bit of snobbishness there which was quite uncalled for.

Not being an oyster eater I opted for something from the raw bar on her recommendation, the salmon and avocado sushi. It was fresh fish as was to be expected but quite expensive for what it was. I also had a lychee cocktail which was okay.

My main was the steak with red wine jus although the incorrect sauce was brought out (peppercorn) but swiftly changed when I flagged it. The steak was well cooked and flavoursome, the sauce was nothing special ($3.50) but I enjoyed the sides we added. For $10 the side of mash was not overly generous but it was lovely and smooth. I also really adored the oyster sauce on the broccolini and it was the first time the greens were a star on the plate for me.

We finished up with dessert, raspberry pavlova and chocolate fondant with the fondant being my favourite. This is pretty much my ultimate dessert and this rendition was no exception. Gooey decadent deliciousness.

Its hard for me to review this positively as I had the garlic prawns and it absolutely did not agree with me. Taste wise it was very good but Im not convinced it was fresh given it made me feel so unwell. Its definitely turned me off a return visit which is such a shame as I loved the atmosphere (we were inside, but the outdoor seating looks great too post its recent renovation) and the seafood on ice gave it a great ambiance. Its definitely not cheap and that coupled with the fact that its a friend of mines go to restaurant for special occasions and I was really looking forward to it made my experience even more disappointing

This place really took me by surprise! Ive always wanted to try @waterfront_southgate however sometimes I dont trust the restaurants in Southbank dude to the high tourist attraction which can cause a lack in quality and and expensive cost. I was very pleasantly surprised by this restaurant firstly the selection of what you could order was phenomenal and we went in at about 5:30pm on a Friday night and didnt book and they managed to squeeze us in! The service was extremely quick and everyone who was in the restaurant was moving efficiently but also with ease which made it a very relaxed environment. The restaurant was very busy however it wasnt overly noisy and the staff were super attentive and helpful. All the courses we had were delicious and cooked to perfection! The stand out dish was definitely the dessert Ive never ever walked away from a restaurant feeling this satisfied! It was definitely the best dessert Ive had in a very long time. I have been to various restaurants that specialise in desserts that have never reached the @waterfront_southgate dessert! I was blown away!! Very happy with experience and will return!

I went here at least once a year, the food is amazing and fresh. Of course staffs are caring and friendly. The price is worth paying. High recommended place:)
