We came to try on a weeknight. This restaurant was pretty quiet with only two other tables occupied the whole time we were there.
We had the tandoori platter, butter chicken, spinach and cheese naan and chicken biriyani. We requested all dishes to be mild and this was what we got. Taste wise, not the best we’ve had but still quite good. The butter chicken was less sweeter than I would have preferred and more cheese in the naan would have been good. The tandoori platter was well done, good to see the sheek kabab was not dry and rough as it too often is.
Excellent food and service. We ordered butter chicken and punjabi style chicken curry. Both were amazing. Thanks indian city for lovely food
I ordered Butter Chicken and asked for no spice and it was perfect! One of the best dishes I’ve had.
I also ordered Chicken Biryani which was like what my grandfather used to make. I loved it!
Lastly we ordered Vegetable Vindaloo and it was so tasty. I used eatnow to order the dinner and it took them an hour to deliver but it was so worth it. Definitely going back to Indian City for another great experience!
Dodgy buggers. If there was a zero score they would get it. Ruining the name and rep of the indian culinary industry. We rang first to as them if they had ras malai, which is a special indian sweet dish. They said yes. We drove all the way and get there. Order 5 serves for take away. We were surprised that now there were only 2 pcs in a serve, for $5. Before there used to be 4 pcs in a serve. The lady went to the back and took a long time. They produced 5 serves packed up. We get home and as soon as i opened the pack it was not ras malai. It was actually another product thats tinned ras goola, which comes in a very sweet clear sugar syrup, but with a bit of milk added to it. No wonder it was taking so long at the time. They were doctoring something else. Definitely cheats. They should have just said that there was no ras malai. Why lie too and cheat people. You cant fool indians. I called them up and the lady denied it, and said that its ras malai. I said that i wanted to bring it back and get a refund. She said no they cant do refunds! That just gave it away on how blatantly these people are trying to fool and cheat the public. Thats $25 wasted! Working in the industry we can tell if something has been mixed or doctored. Dont go too or trust these guys. Such places should be shut down. God knows what else they do with re-using or using rotted food in cooking!! They create too much anti trust and ruin the reputation of great indian cuisine!
Absolutely love this place. I’ve always ordered from this place via menulog and their quality of food is point on. We’ve pretty much tried everything off this menu except for the seafood curry. Everything is just delicious. We’ve been ordering from this place for nearly 2 years and their food tastes the same- which is what I like about it. If I was to list what I’ve tried there’ll be a long lost. So save space let me put it like this- just try anything! I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
Good place for Punjabi food as well as tawa roti is superb. Chinese food is nice . Good Indian restaurant provide food with good Indian music.
This small Indian restaurant can be easily overlooked by the surplus of Vietnamese and Chinese restaurants in Springvale.
However, Le Boy and I have been giving Springvale restaurants a go lately to support our local community a little more but also partly from the laziness of having the need to drive anywhere too far for a good feed. And so we thought, why not go someplace a little different.
Food is quite nice and our waitress was lovely and attentive.
We ordered from vegetable manchurian dumplings which were more like vegetarian meatballs than dumplings. Nonethless, I still really enjoyed them and it was my favourite dish of the night.
For the curries, we both tried a spinach base curry, one vegetarian, the other chicken and both were nice. The naan bread wasn’t too bad either and not charred or burnt like a previous reviewer noted.
The place is pretty quiet so good for a low key date or if you’re feeling too lazy to cook anything at home. Also as far as I know, only one of very few Indian restaurants in the Springvale centre. Otherwise you’d have to drive up to Coles near the junction where the others are. It’s also a big bonus that the place is open til late.
