The place is so so small (literally 3 tables) so if you can get a seat inside consider yourself lucky but honestly so worth it. It doesn’t look like the most put together place and does look run down, mismatched and a little greasy but dont let that stop you from eating here. The food is seriously good – great local!
This Taiwanese cafe is the only Taiwanese eatery in Springvale and has held its ground for a while. The seating is very limited and is almost always full.
We got a couple bowls of their beef noodle soup, broth was herbally and soothing and the noodles ribbony and soft. The beef was a bit on the tough side. There’s chilli oil on the table to ramp it up a notch.
We also got some XLB, plenty of imperfections but flavourwise was okay. Wrapper was thick and not enough soup. Couldn’t find the vinegar so used a bit of soy sauce instead.
The meals are cheap here and everyone was starting off with some soy milk. Their beef noodle soup is also very popular but their slow braised pig trotters looked amazingly juicy and tender. Ohh boy, maybe next time.
Everyone was happy to wait for a seat here. Its interesting how they have a purely Chinese or Taiwanese clientele in a Vietnamese area. The Chinese doughnut was a bit soft without the chewy texture when we had it for lunch with the soy bean milk. I was hoping the soy milk was much thicker than provided. The braised pork rice was good and the chicken drumstick rice was such a big portion. Definitely value for money.
The Sunny Cafe is one of my go to spots for a quick lunch in Springvale. It offers an alternative to the abundant Vietnamese food in the area. My favourite is the Baso rice, which consists of a sweet savoury meat sauce over white rice with half a braised egg. The food is rustic and has a home cooked feel which I love. They also have a small range of pastries and cakes that I believe are baked on premises. Ill definitely be back to try one of their Swiss rolls.
Taiwanese little takeaway place. Had their luroufan braised beef with rice. Their sponge cake is delicious because its light and fluffy and not too sweet. If you like soy milk to drink the asian way, u can have it here. Small and sharing table. Cleanliness i would rate them 6/10.
As a fan of Taiwanese food I needed to try this place. Its a small shop nothing fancy and very authentic menu and so well priced. Tried the taiwanese sausages and rice and it was pretty good and generous portion size
