If there was an option for Zero, then I would have selected that.
Food quality is very poor. I ordered a burger which should be easy, but what came out was turgid! Frozen precooked patty that was then recooked to within an inch of its life. Hard and dry, served with limp lettuce and a stale bun. Not good.
My partner did not fare much better…frozen, over fried seafood plate. Again, we barely touched our meals.
If it wasn’t for the large kids room (the reason we were here in the first place was for a niece’s bday) I would never go here again.
Sorry, I am unable to recommend this place.

Had dinner with Le Boy’s family Friday night and ordered a whole range of dishes.
    We had…
    Chicken schnitzel – good
    Chicken parma – good
    Fettucine carbonara – good
Mango chutney and chicken coconut curry with rice – very nice (Chef’s special)
Barramundi with chips and salad – alright
and more but I can’t recall.

Food is reasonably priced for pub like food. The place is clean, quiet and children eat for free on Fridays for every main meal purchased.
Overall it was nice for a casual dinner and the food was decent. It does not compare to the modern and hip eateries popping up all over Melbourne but it’s a nice and local. Staff are friendly and nice.
Would I realistically come back on my own and highly recommend it to others? Probably not. Especially not if you are a foodie and you need something more when it comes to eating out.

I feel really bad by writing this as I am a regular drunk in the sports bar on a Sunday. So I got really excited when I saw taco Tuesday being advertised. $15 4 tacos shouldn’t be too bad I said well……. I am no chef but when you get given a set of 4 cold 4 raw tacos the shells hadn’t even been put in the oven for fuksake you don’t go eat in the bistro stick to the back bar Ray will look after ya and I might even buy you a beer haha

So last Friday my wife and I were just too lazy to cook and decided to eat out in our area of Springvale. My kids being the super smart little versions of us suggested Double D Burgers or the Sandown Park Greyhound track. But unfortunately for all of us my wife and chose the Waltzing Matilda Hotel because were so freakin patrioitic and wanted some Aussie culture. No we chose that place because we heard kids eat free Friday nights and we were being stingy bad parents.

Lets set scene, this place is not a pub, its a pokey venue with a couple of TVs showing sport. If youre bringing a date here, youre doing it all wrong. If youre meeting mates here, youre doing it all wrong. This place is for people who want to shovel money into machines in the hope theyll get more back.

With that being said I shouldve realized the quality of food that was going to come out. I ordered the stuffed chicken, they got the name right because they stuffed it up. It was dry and I didnt see much cheese and vegetables stuffed inside. The cheese sauce was probably the best bit about the whole dish and if I didnt have kids to set an example for I wouldve licked it all off the plate. My wife got the steak and that came out ok, she is quite particular about her food, so when she eats it, its acceptable. But she wasnt raving about it. So she may well have just been hungry and just put up with. I was too scared to ask.

We ordered the ham and pineapple pizza for my eldest and fish and chips for my youngest. Pizza came out with no pineapple, WTH?!? So we had to send that back, in which it took 20 minutes to return. 20 minutes to put some tinned sliced pineapple on a pizza. Finally when it did come out and live up to the written description in the menu it was soggy as a wet paper bag. Kids eat most things, but my son ate probably ate third and said he was full (which is kids speak for this is s**t). The fish contained so many bones in the fillet I couldve reconstructed a life-sized T-Rex from the pile we picked out. The chips were good, obviously trying to be a pub they have a lot of experience cooking chips.

Really the only thing this place has going for it was a couple of really hot Asian waitresses. Fortunately for them I am married and under the thumb of my wife, otherwise I would be hanging out at this place eating terrible food in the hopes of making small talk with one of those Asians. Seriously they are really hot and worth the possibility of having your stomach pumped if you get their phone number.

If you want to shovel money into pokies, then go there and go nuts. If you want to perv on hot Asian waitresses, then go there and go nuts. If you are hungry, McDonalds is just across the road and probably provide a higher standard of quality

Ate in the sports bar, limited menu but reasonably priced. Food is pretty standard pub food, nothing too flash but does the job. Lunch time special of pot and Parma for $10 can’t be beaten. Quick service and has Furphy on tap which is always a winner.

Nothing to write home about or even really worth writing this review about but I wasn’t disappointed.

Would like to see more vegetarian options on the menu.

The only vegetarian option on the menu is the pumpkin ravioli. The ravioli was not cooked and slightly chewy, it was swimming in Napoli sauce along with drowned bits of spinach and tomato.

Would be better if ravioli was cooked, there was less sauce and more spinach and tomato on top instead of drowned in the sauce.

Bad overcooked Steak. Ordered an Eye Fillet medium rare, came out well done/burnt. I sent it back to the kitchen and 20 mins later when my friend had nearly finished their meal another steak came out medium-well done. Very disappointing and won’t go back. Staff also more interesting in gossiping than serving customers.
