Thrilled to hear that the owners had opened up a new venue in St Albans after moving on from the original Phong Dinh in Footscray.

The restaurant is located in a quieter area of St Albans but still close to the busy strip. It is cosy but does not feel cramped. There is also an outdoor seating area which would be great in warmer weather.

The menu is not as extensive as it was at the old venue but all the favourites are still there. We ordered some prawn spring rolls, diced beef with tomato rice and sizzling satay beef (swapped out the pork on the menu for beef) with rice.

The prawn spring rolls were delicious. Crispy and crunchy on the outside and full of stuffing on the inside. Also served with lettuce, mint and the fish sauce dip.

The diced beef and tomato rice was also a hit. The tomato rice was flavoursome yet not overwhelmingly salty. The beef was tender and delicious, cooked in what tasted like a hoisin sauce. Great value too!

The satay beef here is the best. With so many different styles of satay and ways people make it, this place always gets it right. An excellent mix of sweet, spice and peanut flavour!

Overall the food was beautiful and great value. Customer service here is always great too! The owners are lovely people. Will be back soon!

Awesome food and friendly service! I am a huge fan of their Hu Tieu Mi Tom Thit with soup (comfort in a bowl), so full of flavour and they sure don’t skimp on their toppings, love the generous sprinkle of chives and the crunch of the shrimp cracker, cashew nuts and pork crackling. It goes deliciously well with the chewy and springy noodles and quail egg. Hands downs the best Hu Tieu Mi Tom Thit I’ve had in Melbourne so far!

I also love their crispy chicken with fried tomato rice, broken rice with the lot and their vermicelli with fried pork and spring rolls. The flavour and texture are all wonderful!

Pity that they are kind of hidden in the middle of a walkway near IGA, definitely a gem that deserves much more support and recognition!
