The family and I stopped in for dinner today and we enjoyed one of the best fish and chips around! The flake we had was fresh, potato cakes were creamy – batter was self made which is a bonus! Lastly the hamburger with the lot is one of the traditional fish and chips burgers out there, it has not been modified, no fusion twists – just superb! Definitely would recommend to anyone and will be returning for more!

Ordered pack 5 with some extra scallops, it was DELICIOUS! The man working was very friendly and helpful as it took forever for me to decide what i wanted. Everything was fresh and yummy!! would definitely come back
Sweetest people who really put in effort in making the best fish and chips, really reminds me of my childhood. Hands down the best potato cakes Ive ever had. Forget those thin ones, Smiley has thick puff ones that are crunchy on the outside and pillowy on the inside. Highly recommend if youre looking for a quick snack for lunch or dinner
Love coming here as the owners make great food and always throw in a few extras at no charge, they are always happy and smiling think thats why they named it it smiley fish and chips. If only other take away businesss in the area could be like these owners.
Oh my! What a pleasant surprise!
I was craving fish & chips today and thats exactly what I purchased from Smileys this afternoon. I can say that I was not expecting it to be this perfect.
The chips were crispy, fluffy & perfectly seasoned. Fish was fresh & not heavily battered. The potato cakes were a dream, homemade, thick cut potato & slight batter. The batter is light & crispy, not thick & stodgy.
The oil was so clean that the food did not leave an oily aftertaste in my mouth & there was no overused oil aroma that can put you off your food.
Customer service was also quite Smiley & very friendly. Store was clean, hygienic & has a positive vibe.
Thank goodness there is now a great fish & chips store in St Albans. 10/10!
