Service: Quick service. But you do need to point at items on the menu.

Atmosphere: Floors were sticky and dirty, decent lighting, relatively intimate seating, decor can be improved.

Food: Decent food for the price, recommend the pork dishes as that is what we tried. Durian smoothie was really good but a little too sweet.

Value: Good food for the price.

Probably wouldn’t go back, but worth a try especially if you’re looking for value lunch.

We ordered crispy chicken on fried rice and Tra Vinh special vermicelli dish, and we are quite happy with it. The crispy chicken was crispy and came with yummy dipping sauce, but the fried rice was mediocre at best. The vermicelli was good, I like their pulled pork and their grilled pork. Though, I wished they served more of them. The vermicelli and salad was plentiful though. The drink that we ordered, avocado smoothie, was an absolute disappointment. It was way too watery and rather tasteless. We should’ve ordered something else.

Authentic, delicious, and cheap Vietnamese food. That is what to expect when you come to Tra Vinh. Named after a countryside region in Vietnam that just so happens to be my origins, it was finally time for us to try this restaurant hidden off the main Street of St Albans, and glad are we that we did.

With a nice ambience and attentive, friendly service, we were swiftly welcomed in and served our food- no kidding, this as incredibly fast service! We ordered today the Tra Vinh Com Tam (Broken rice special) as well as a egg noodle with fried chicken. Let’s start with the broken rice special (Number 53. On the menu). This was definitely one of my favourite Broken rice dishes I have tried, especially loving the way the pork was cooked making it extremely tender and easy to eat. The veggies and complimentary ingredients tasted fresh and it came with the expected chicken soup. Some places don’t serve chicken soup with this traditional dish!!! The egg noodles were also good, with the fried chicken tasting delicious, battered evenly and not too rich or oily, exactly how it should be.

The quality of food here is very well above average, making it a favourite of ours in St Albans. Come here to try some great Vietnamese food without the wait, and for ridiculously cheap prices.
