I never went to the Hotel Esplande before it was refurbished but Ive heard the difference is quite apparent. Theyve got a great selections of beers and cocktails. I got the fish and chips, the fish was fresh and tasty, I will definitely be back, even if its just for a few drinks.
A really nice dining and drinking experience here, suits well for all occasions came here with the family the other day and the newly renovated Espy was beautiful so many nice features around that has a superb beach feel to it. Had the fish and chips of course since I was in the beachy mood it was soo good everyone else enjoyed their meals.
The Espy re opened in all its historic glory, beautiful restaurant and bars and beach front views . Modern dining in the Espy back restaurant, friendly helpful staff.
So yesterday was my first visit to the Espy since the relaunch and what else can I say but wow. From the ambiance, to the decor and everything in between it has been decorated extremely tastefully. But speaking of tastefully, I cannot recommend the head chef Ash Hicks’ food to the level it requires. Whilst I only had a pizza as a quick n easy meal, I can’t explain how good it was. It really did take me back to Italy and I can’t wait to try the amazing menu he has on offer. Even the cocktails were outstanding with a new favourite now on my list: Kafir lime leaf margarita. An amazing creation which I couldn’t get enough of. Needless to say I’ll be back, oh and I took an amazing photo of the bar upstairs…
We went to the newly renovated stupendously attractive Espy last night and had to wait an hour for a table. As a result of this we popped into the bar for a pre dinner drink. I had 500 days of summer which was a deliciously refreshing cocktail.
The place was super busy and the dj was spinning, hubby was grateful for the tv screening the cricket whilst we waited but I definitely recommend booking a table when you can to avoid standing in limbo (we did attempt to do this but they are taking walk ins only for the remainder of the year as they are already booked out). Great atmosphere
Like everyone, I was excited for the re-opening of The Espy after being closed down for a few years and renovated. The renovation is chic, stylish with great ambience and beautiful sea views of you sit outside in the small undercover courtyard or out the front. The drinks menu is good, plenty to choose from with all the standard drinks on offer. Lets talk about the food though. The menu for vegetarians is poor and lacks totally. If youre vegan, forget it. I came for lunch recently and I couldnt honestly find a single thing I wanted. The polenta chips were literally 5 chips for $10 – outrageous. In truth I thought the menu was disappointing from both a lunch and vego prospective. Lunch wise – youre paying the prices of a dinner meal and the serving sizes were in my opinion small. The Espy is a great place to come for a drink and have some bar snacks (the standard hot chips, bread and dip, skewers etc) but other than salad or pizza there was nothing for me to eat. I wont be returning to eat unless the menu improves.
A two years renovation and reopened! The place was packed on a Friday afternoon. Beautiful weather so everyone sat at the outside ish area at the front soaking in some sun.
Food was ok. Oyster was really fresh with vinegarette on the side. I had the fish and chips, it was ok nothing too special, colleagues had parma, wagyu and they said its just fine. Vibe was really chilled. In the end we ordered espressos to finish off, waiter brought two watery long black and said heres your cappuccino. hahah I wish that was a funny joke.
