    Unfortunately, we left disappointed.

We went with a group of 4, at the time we were the only ones in the dining area. We ordered the Mussels w/ Sticky Rice, SpaghettiMarinara Bianca, Sambal Stingray, Lentil Soup, Turkish Green Beans, Claypots Greek Salad & x6 Coffin Bay Oysters – they were all out so instead, we ordered x6 Australian King Prawns.

We were rather excited because having been to Claypots on Barkley Street, we expected something close to the experience and flavours.

Lentil Soup, Greek Salad, and Beans were all good.
Spaghetti Marinara Bianca was nice, it came with a suitable amount of seafood but lacked flavour.
The Mussels arrived with hardly any rice and an extremely salty broth – eatable if you only ate the Mussells and added tabasco sauce to kill the overpowering saltiness.
Sambal Stringray was flavoursome, we only got the tail for some unknown reason BUT that was the last dish to arrive after 45 minutes due to a front house error which instead of putting our complete order in first they f*cked up and put in the order of the customers that came in after us before submitting our complete order.
And lastly, the Australian King Prawns never arrived. After 45 mins when we reminded them that we were still waiting for the Stingray and Prawns did they tell us that they were all out. But in a matter of fact, it was because they had not submitted our order in full which gave the Prawns to the customers that came after us. They were nonchalant about not delivering what was ordered, topping off an extremely terrible service.

This is place was a hit and miss. Maybe if they work on the overall service of Front House, starting from as basic as placing the orders chronologically. And taking responsibility for f*ck ups. Then maybe the score would be higher. To the Kitchen, taste the food before you send it out – it wasn’t even busy so there was no reason why anything lacked salt, had no flavour, or was extremely salty. But the stingray – you’re on the money with that one – good job.

It’s a shame that most of the dishes that had seafood weren’t good enough for a seafood restaurant.

A solid 5.0 for quality and flavour. The place is certainly not fine dining but the food is spectacular. The decor is nothing flash and they have some blue on orange paint work, what were they thinking?! But the food itself was some of the best I have ever had. My only regret is that I didn’t have a crisp Riesling with it. Actually I almost missed this place because some clown has given in a 1.0 review which has unfairly reduced Claypot’s overall ranking. Do not be fooled my friends, this place is worth it if you like spectacular seafood.

This was probably the worst dining experience. I was looking forward to eating here as I’ve been to the original claypots and loved the food and atmosphere. Disappointed to say this place lacked both. We noticed the cook not using gloves on her hands to prepare the food, the same hands we saw her wipe her nose with… I opted for the seafood pie which literally had only a couple pieces of prawn in it, I had to take it back as I was so disappointed. My partner had the stingray which was marinated in something so salty he could barely eat it. The highlight was the bowl of mussels we received, a big serve for $15 which is very good value. I’m also disappointed with the service, they did not ask at any point how the food was, even after I had to send a dish back.. which I found very strange. I’ve never written a negative review but I thought it prudent I warn others.

The food here is absolutely delicious. Great seafood, generous portions and fantastic flavours. We ordered through menu log which said it would take an hour but Claypots rang us and it was ready in 10 minutes.

Excellent value for money, seafood chowder is great, whole flathead is really good, and you get so many mussels for the price. Not sure why this places isn’t busier, would definitely recommend.
