Great service, but the food needs improvement. I ordered the Scotch Fillet medium rare and it was very chewy! Perhaps I should order rare next time.…

I am still in shock from how I was treated by one of the wait staff at this place. Probably she is new and young, but there never be good reasons to abuse anyone, especially customers in business. Due to my food intolerance which has recently become more serious, I asked her for gluten free options as it was advised on their menu. She recommended me to have vegetarian lasagna, which had no GF mark on the menu. I told her I wasnt asking for vegetarian options but gluten free options, and asked her if she meant to suggest gluten free pasta. She didnt seem to understand what I said, gave me a puzzled look and then gazed at the menu without saying anything for awhile. So I said to her, its OK I would figure it out by myself, by thinking just choosing according to what it says on the menu. Then she got frozen, didnt leave the table, and was giving me a intense nasty stare for a minute. Felt extremely uncomfortable, I asked her to kindly stop staring at me like that. Then she angrily said YOU ARE RUDE. I was utterly shocked. Its OK not to be able to answer a query from customer if shes new, she could have said she could check with the kitchen staff. Its OK to mishear what customer asked and provide inappropriate information, it can happen to anyone. But venting ones frustration towards customer by staring and name-calling is rude and unacceptable. Seeing her failing to answer my questions twice in a row and telling her not to worry, probably she might have took it personally by feeling rejected though(Im just trying to be understanding here), this way of reaction is beyond OK. I could hear she went up to the other staff and talk to them loudly that Asian lady sitting along the window was so rude to me blah blah blah – unprofessional. I was too shocked to understand what was really happening and make a good judgment like the person in an abusive relationship. It was gaslighting. During this unreasonable mistreat happening to me, other customers arrived, they were served by other staff with water while my existence was completely ignored afterwards. Then I realised I should not stay. Reported the incident and shared my feedback and experiences to the other staff at the cashier, and told her thats why I needed to leave. She just said no worries. No apologies. Worked in customer service for many years, we get to see abusive clients sometime and have to be mentally ready for it, however, I never thought I would be abused as a customer. Absolutely traumatised since I wasnt guarding myself for this. She may be just passing her own trauma on to customers but this has to be definitely stopped, please.
Avoid. If you like cold school dinners, under cooked food and a manager that responds like an ape to complaints … This is for you. I’ve lived in melb for 5 years. I’ve had two terrible dinning out experiences . This was one of them. If I had eaten what was served I would have had food poisoning. It was raw
This place used to be the worst food out.
Now it’s amazing. Japanese calamari is to die for. Homemade tartare sauce, huge tasty parmas cooked to perfection… Everything I’ve had from here has been great at a reasonable price and super friendly service!!
Love it.
Yum!. Had dinner there last night with my wife and was pleasantly surprised. Extremely good service from waiter and cashier girl. Food was great and generously proportioned. Very satisfied and will definitely go back. Highly recommended.
Every time I’ve been here in the last 6 months, the food has been amazing!
The Japanese calamari is addictive, best calamari we’ve ever had.
The parmas are equally as amazing, perfect in every way… Meal could use a few more chips but the salad and dressing are great!!
Cajun chicken sandwich rocked too… Couldn’t be happier with the food here!! Great, Aussie pub meals!
Had been a few times for dinner and had a pleasant experience – last time I came was for my birthday with my parents and was not good – thought it was a once off so tried again for a second chance and was a bad idea – I ordered a chicken Kiev with prawn risotto – the prawns were great the chicken Kiev was just a chicken breast. My partner ordered the deep blue main meal which had deep fried crab meat – he nearly bit into a claw which was hidden in the false crab meat! this is normal so the chef (wouldn’t call him a chef- I could do better) says! Bad form – won’t be returning.
Pleasantly Surprised. Expectations were not high but the food and service were pretty good. Our table ordered Moroccan lamb, chicken Kiev and a schnitzel. The lamb and Kiev were not particularly large serves but the food was well presented, well cooked and tasty. The service was good despite the place being busy. Good value with a voucher.
