An okay place to have lunch. We ordered lemongrass chicken and diced beef on tomato rice. They were pretty big in portion, especially the rice but the taste was just okay. Nothing is bad but nothing stands out either. Dishes aside, I quite like their stone table. It did make the place a bit more grand.

My wife and I have lived in Sunshine for 5 years and were regulars at many restaurants including Phu Vinh, Co Do, Pho Hien, Mambos and Afghan Master Kebabs. After discovering Vu Gia recently, we have become regular customers. The peaceful atmosphere is a welcome change compared to some other busy restaurants which sometimes meant dirty/ sticky floors, tables and cutlery.

For the last couple months, weve visited Vu Gia weekly for the Mongolian beef in claypot; it comes out hot!!! Its delicious and nothing is ever left behind by the Mrs who is a fussy eater. The Pho isnt good so go elsewhere but the Hu Tieu Xao and Mi Xao were good.
Its a shame Vu Gia only has an average rating, like many others out there, because it is not always a true reflection of the place. Likewise, a higher rating restaurant doesnt necessarily mean its always great.
Point is, try and see for yourself and you might be pleasantly surprised like we have.

Good food and very friendly waiter! The Bun Cha has lean meat and still soft and juicy! The taste is not overly sweet and has many authentic Vietnamesedishes.

Ordered a large beef and chicken pho, and repeated the order for $13 twice to the waitress. Given a mid sized bowl, told it was large, then that it was medium. Broth fairly plain. Underwhelmed and not full. Other dishes such as noodle soups and spring rolls reasonable, but way too many Viet restaurant competitors out there who would do a much better job with pho for $13 (pho hung vuong/pho hien/co do…..list goes on) Staff friendly so this review is bittersweet but reality is more than 20 better Viet restaurants around the area than this one

Love coming here for lunch or dinner. Been here about 4 or 5 times now and the food is always on point. The owner is super friendly too. Will definitely come back on the regular. So far we’ve had the pho, the broken rice and the tomato rice with diced beef and it’s all great.

Really authentic Northern Vietnamese food. The best pho in Melbourne as of May, 2016. The chicken pho here is amazing. Other dishes to try including Bun Ca and Banh Cuon. The service is also great, the owners are very nice people. A hidden gem in Sunshine.

They make North Vietnamese food here, which I love! I find the food more savory and less sweet than other Vietnamese restaurants. My husband and I come here every week and our dinners usually come between $20-$30.
