Used to love coming here, as the food was exceptional and the service was great. However in the last 1-2 years the service has really gone downhill with young staff overcharging us and not bothering to take our order or give us water for half an hour after coming in. The pizza is still good, but not quite on the same level. I only ever get take out from here now, as i won’t let bad service ruin a good meal again.
Food here is delicious! Crispy thin base which is perfect, and fresh real ingredients on top! The pizza is not oily at all and the size is decent. I had a regular size to myself and my partner had a large. I got the gourmet vegetarian and my partner got the Cranberry Chicken and a garden salad to share. Everything was delicious!
My only complaint is the $2 per plate surcharge for eating in. I found this a bit excessive. I could understand a small table surcharge but we were charged $2 x3, and I feel like it should not cost $2 extra for every single dish (including the salad) just to wash a plate. Other than that, no complaints. Service was friendly, too.
I can’t believe there are bad reviews about this place! I’ve never had a bad pizza here! And one of My fav places to take a friend and a bottle of wine. And the 1061 salad is one of the best salads going around.
Judging by some of the other reviews for this restaurant, I was certainly expecting a decent pizza from this establishment. What I got was overpriced and exceedingly bland. Don’t bother ordering from these guys, unless you like to spend A ridiculous amount of money and you want a pizza that certainly doesn’t deliver.
I used to get pizza here quite a bit a few years ago and it was delicious. We got take away recently and we weren’t impressed. We got the smoked salmon and the cranberry chicken. The pizzas are $23 each so at that price you expect a flavour explosion however these pizzas were very bland. I’ve had plenty of seafood/salmon pizzas that have been too salty but this salmon pizza was on the opposite end of the spectrum, even the capers were bland. The cranberry chicken pizza was so bland and under seasoned the main flavour I could taste was the tomato paste and the nuts were burnt. I appreciate the crust was done well but I will not come back. I’ll save money and go to a regular pizza shop.
Rarely do home delivered pizza, but took a punt on 1061. Very pleasantly surprised: two very light and tasty pizzas, excellent crusts and very fresh,quality ingredients, delivered on time. Well worth the extra $$s (they ain’t cheap) and will definitely be trying again.
Postscript: a few weeks later, I did! Pick up this time, and even better. Yum
Best Pizza in Camberwell/Surrey Hills. Always friendly and funny service, and the pizza is the best around…keep it up guys.
