Very friendly service, fish fresh, chips perfectly cooked. They have a large menu and cook quite promptly. My go-to for when it is too hard to make dinner.
Ordered a lunch pack & boy was it horrible. Flake was battered so thick, dry, not fresh & tasted pathetic. Potato cake was the same took a bite & threw it out. Portion was small and expensive. Ended up throwing the food out & buying lunch elsewhere. Find it bizarre how they are still in business. Won’t be back, its a shame because it was the best when it had Greek owners many years ago.
The owners changed about a year ago and it’s gone down hill dramatically, I’m not even sure how they’re still in business. The new owners (a husband and wife) are of Asian decent and they’re constantly speaking in their language around you, they’re constantly arguing in the back room – actual screaming. Their son I feel like does not want to be there at all. He won’t greet you but will raise his eyebrows waiting for you to order. Anything you want grilled comes with a side of pancakes! I’m not even joking, he batters it so much that you have to eat what taste like undercooked pancake mixture before you get to the fish!
I use to work in the area, and my colleagues all ate it, and always had a story to share as well as seeing the disgusting food in the tea break room. A colleague once asked what oil he cooked his food in, the owner said he wasn’t sure as he’s always mixing them. It’s pretty bad, I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
I forgot the most important part too, extremely poor hygiene. OH & S would shut them down in an instant lol
Cheap and Good. The food is cheap, you get your money worth and it good. Their burgers are best here and their fried chicken very nice crunchy and meaty. Would recommend out of 10
Best fish and chips in thomastown. Maars bar in batter best in town, chips and potato cake the best (when crunchy) and the burgers and steak the best youll askk for
Awesome Place!. Been coming here since I Remember – From Dora & Spiro (The original Greek owners) , to the Chinese owner Wayne, to the Lebanese guy and his wife, now to the new owner. It has managed to always have Brilliant burgers – with cheese, mustard, tomato sauce, onion, bacon, tomato. It is seriously good stuff – put in between soft sesame buns. Mmmmm Yum! Also good are their roast chickens they make, and their crumbed KFC Style chicken. Very good and all under $10 for lots of food. Only drawback is bad chips – but the burger sooooooo makes up for this!
Beautiful. Exactly what you would expect from a local fish shop
