Absolutely huge bowl of soup to be had here. I chose it because I wasn’t all that hungry, but it was huge! Pumpkin and honey soup was yum. The Coeliac one had a roast with gluten free gravy, which he enjoyed, it came with a variety of veg, although they weren’t anything special. Reasonably economical for lunch as well.
Very disappointing dining experience. Arrived for dinner on a Tuesday night, was met with what felt like contempt from the female host. My companion and I asked for a table for two, her response was ‘most of them are dirty, go sit up near the bar’ as she handed us two menus and left us to sort ourselves out (as the sign indicates that one should wait to be seated, I would expect to be escorted to a table).
There was no further instruction provided, leaving us confused as to whether it was table service or not (it proved not to be).
As our meals were delivered, I asked if I could have a glass of water – the response (from the same rude host) was ‘there’s water over there’ (referring to the half-filled jug of water laying on the bar, with no signage that would indicate a self-service system). I replied ‘there are no glasses’. She replied ‘go ask for one at the bar’ and walked off.
This was some of the rudest, most unhelpful service I have experienced. We were made to feel like inconveniences. Not the way one wants to feel when you are paying money for services.
Sadly, the food did not compensate for the service either; it was not particularly enjoyable, but that was the lesser evil of the experience.
Do not intend to ever return.
