Dining with a group of 16 tonight, we had booked a few tables at the bistro for dinner.
Three meals came out missing ingredients…key ingredients at that, ingredients that you would actually order the dish for. Two halloumi wraps came with no halloumi and one chicken supreme (chicken breast stuffed with prawns, salmon and camembert) came out as a plain cooked chicken breast. Their excuse? ‘The breast was too small’
For expensive meals, this is a joke.
Won’t be back.
Came for Christmas lunch yesterday and were very pleasantly surprised! The quality of the buffet was excellent value for money ($95) per head. All the food was plentiful and delicious. We were all very impressed with the food, staff, ambiance and service. A+ Knox Club, you nailed it!
Not even worth one star!! WARNING, worst Xmas lunch ever. Buffet at $90 per head. Sure ir is not a classy upmarket eatery, but as far as standard pub xmas lunxhes go, this was a disaster and a money making racket. Enjoy waiting in queues of 50 plus people just for an entree. Gave up up and left after this. So crowded, or should I say sardines in a tin would have been luxury if we had this space!! I had queues directly behind chair, which was being pushed continually due to the lack of space. Management could not care and were not prepared to xo anything. BASICALLY just lump it and robbed!! Yeah, merry xmas knox club.
Visited as a family of 5 this evening, ordered our meals at 6:30 with no problems. Food was taking quiet a while to come out and we were assured by two separate wait staff that our meals were on their way. It was quiet clear several other tables were also waiting a while for their meals to come out and were becoming agitated. An hour later our meals began to arrive, one of our party ordered the steak only to have it brought out cold along with cold veggies. Complained to a male waiter who said he was the manager that evening. He was quiet abrupt and unapologetic about the wait or the cold food, however eventually agreed to replace the cold meal for us. Unfortunately below par food can often be overlooked if service is outstanding, or vice versa. In this case both food and the service/attitude of the manager left me never wanting to return. After speaking with surrounding tables who were still waiting for food as we left, I’m sure we weren’t the only ones disappointed by our dining experience tonight.
Attended dinner for the first time tonight, what a shambles, will never return…. Main reason being that I had to wait 25 minutes in the line to order a simple meal with only 1 person taking orders, and it didn’t help no one seemed to know their table numbers or what they wanted to order either but you don’t expect much for a local pub/club. Food was below average.
Never, ever again.
We came to the pub to attend a charity event in the function room. We enquired at the bar in the bistro whether it would be possible to order food and have it brought into the function room, to which the gentleman at the bar replied he did not know, and asked us to find another member of the staff, which we did. She seemed at first unsure, handed our party of 6 two menus and told us to stand in line to order. She also apologised about the length of the queue, which was reaching back into the hallway. At first I thought she was simply being polite, and that surely the queue would move quickly. How wrong I was.
We stood in the queue, no lie, half an hour before reaching the front – there was only one staff member at the register. We informed her we were in the function room and would our meals and cutlery (as there was none on the tables) be able to be brought in to us, to which she said yes. As we begun to place to orders, she interrupted to ask if we would only be ordering standard pub fare, such as chicken parmigianas, to which we replied that the majority of us were. She then informed us that we could order these types of meals from the bar, and for $14 for a parma instead of what the bistro charges – $23! By this point I and my fellow diners were too hungry and annoyed to join another, potentially half hour long queue so we opted to purchase our identical yet more expensive meals from the bistro, and returned to the function room feeling thoroughly frustrated.
Cue another half hour wait (not unreasonable, but after already waiting for half an hour to even have our orders taken, we were all feeling extremely put out.) When our meals finally arrived (three chicken parmigianas, two pastas, fish and chips) they did so without cutlery. I mentioned this to the waitress who told me that they were not able to bring us any cutlery and that we would have to fetch it from the bistro ourselves. Eventually she relented and returned after five minutes with three sets of cutlery, so three members of the group were forced to wait to eat their meals until more cutlery arrived. When it did not, they fetched their own. By this time, it was discovered that two of the three chicken parmigianas were uncooked in the middle, and both had to be returned to the kitchen. The other chicken parmigiana was adequately cooked but only just warm, but the recipient was too hungry to return it and opted to eat it anyway.
I’m sure the meals – those that weren’t inedible – were perfectly fine, but by this time we all had such bad tastes in our mouths that no matter how good the food may have been, it was ultimately spoiled for me by absolutely abhorrent service. The bistro, for the half hour we stood in there was noisy and overcrowded; the staff seemed disinterested, uncaring and unhelpful; and what food was edible was at best, average. Honestly, my worst dining out experience.
Overall this is generally a good place, I don’t like they have changed there menu recently there less entree options. Bring back the DIY chicken tacos 🙂
