The Bavarian has the best German food that I have tried in Melbourne! They also have $5 Happy Hour for ciders, house wines, espresso martinis and house spirits. To get the most out of your $5 happy hour deal definitely get the cider. The servings are huge for the cider, definitely worth $5! The wine servings are a bit small but cant complain since it was only $5. Unfortunately after Happy Hour had finished one of my friends bought a glass of wine. She was asked what size she wanted, and she said the large size. She wasnt informed of the price so was shocked to discover she paid $20 for a glass of wine! Very expensive!
The food is great but a lot of menu items sell out early on. The wagyu sausage is very popular and was sold out by 5:30pm. I ordered the Hot Link sausage and chose to have a side of mustard, sauerkraut and potato salad. Was authentic and reminded me of my holiday to Berlin. The sausage wasnt that spicy though….. I will need to try the spicier option next time.
Another highlight was the donut shaped pretzel! Amazing! Was lovely and the caramel sauce provided went well with the donut which reminded me of churros.
I also love the GPS trackers that help the staff find where the meal is meant to go. Means less chance of the food being delivered to the wrong person. Its a very smart idea and at first I thought we would have to collect the food ourselves, I didnt realise it was a tracker! Such a cool idea!
If anyone wants German food in Melbourne I would definitely recommend this venue. I would love to return some time!
Why the intense security? Have diners been misbehaving in the past or is it jst a precaution against the giant mugs of beer they’re selling? I found the menacing guy standing with his arms folded in the front door really entertaining tbh.
Overall we had a fun night, the loud club music, the decor, the attractive, young, european-looking staff all added to the tackiness of it all but in a good way.
Food-wise it’s not a place I’d rave about, but it was ok. The portions are HUGE, the chips were delicious and I quite liked the sauerkraut but the mains themselves were a tad underwhelming. The pork knuckle, although crispy on the outside, was distinctly porky and bland at the same time and the sausages were ridiculously spicy (and I like spicy) and too fatty.
We’d come back to try other stuff though, I guess cos it’s convenient and we like to drink beers out of boots!
Makes for good experience and taste into German food. Sausages and schnitzels may seem simple but sides bring it to next level, especially those mashed peas
Great place for drinks, with wide range to choose from. Food were awesome love those sausages, so good to know there is Bavarian food and beer close by, save our trip to the City or Docklands, and the great thing is heaps of free parking here. Atmosphere was fantastic, remember to book a table in advance as it gets extremely busy on weekends.
I never knew this place exsisted. Hadn’t been to knox ozone in a while but what a great addition. Beautiful venue. Unfortunately the service here is almost non existent. Staff just don’t care. As for the food I found it outstanding. The mac and cheese balls were amazing. Great place to hang out with mates
Friendly environment, suitable for a large group. We had 12 people and ordered 3 platters, a trotter and some sides to share. Flavour and food quality is as expected. Sausage platter was our favourite.

It’s a shame I have to give this place a 1 star wish I could give no stars. That’s how bad the service over the phone was here I enquired to make a booking and asked for a few suggestions that couldn’t be done. So I’ve cancelled my booking for 9 people now I’m going to Billy’s kitchen for my birthday instead which I heard fantastic reviews about. Don’t eat here the person who answers the phone has an IQ of a fish… This is my 2nd 1 star rating and I don’t like giving them out but these people gave me attitude not once but twice… Oh well you’ve just lost about $500 on my reservation.
