So we headed out for an appointment and on our way home had a craving for some buttery rich pastries.
We chose a Cornish pastie, meat pie, sausage roll and a coffee scroll. Now there was only 2 of us but we like to pick from a variety of food. (Yes we took the half eaten pastries home for the flock of human seagulls we live with). Pastie was good. Filling was bland (don’t worry the dead horse sorted out that problem) but the pastry was crisp and buttery. Sausage roll and pie weren’t as hot as we would have liked but edible none the less. Pie filling was good but needed more gravy. Coffee scroll was amazing! Pull apart and soft with the right amount of cinnamon sultanas and coffee flavouring in the icing. Not bad for a lunch on the run.
Used to make a awesome ciabatta bread. Not anymore ! More bakers at the shop means different interpretations of a ciabatta bread. Size, texture and denseness changes almost daily. Won’t buy anymore.
Used to make a great apple crumble, but have stopped making it.
On a positive note. Family meat pies are delicious.
Not a big fan of this hot bread place. They only use underage staff and as soon as they turn 18 the stop their shift and say nothing else to them. Very inconsiderate way to run a business. The bread is not that good and we walk past it to buy from the IGA next door
