First timers and very impressed. Nice to have great Chinese food at the other end of Warrandyte. The food was fresh and tasty. The veggie fried rice was stacked with fresh crisp vegetables and the lemon chicken and veggie spring rolls were delicious.
I eat out a lot and was hoping for great things from this fairly new restaurant. Alas, Mama Dumplings didn’t meet my hopeful expectations. The menu has the usual offerings plus some interesting specials on the board. I had the chicken curry with roti and my friend had the special of soft shelled crab. The curry was nicely spicy but lacked any real taste. There was plenty of roti but a little dry. The crab was oily and the dipping sauce didn’t taste like it was freshly made. Overall, this felt amateurish in flavour and in presentation. Reminded me of my first taste of Asian food back in the 70’s whereas these days this sort of food is far more available, diverse, flavoursome and pleasing to the eye. Staff were lovely and very helpful and can’t fault their service. Notes: wheelchair accessible, disabled friendly, kid friendly, good parking at the rear of the restaurant, takeaway available.
Walked in and had zero service until their waitress arrived (after opening time mind you)Food arrived quickly. All food came with bottle sauce ie/ sweet chilli or soy. I’d expect housemade sauce or at the very least chilli oil, vinegar etc. The $10 for 4 tiny springrolls was pretentious. Meat in wontons was tough. I’ll leave it at that. Goodluck though.
The dumplings were average tasting and they charged $2 extra to pan fry them. The service was lacking.
