First review of 2019 woohoo!! We came to this famous Indian restaurant to celebrate the new years eve and it was the right decision!! This is by far the best Indian restaurant we had in Melbourne
    .
We started with the MASALA PURI, hollow balls were amazing, stuffed with a spicy mixture of chickpeas, potatoes and filled with tamarind and mint sauce) crispy & flavorful. TANDOORI CHICKEN was too good to resist so we got half of it, you can tell its barbecued in the charcoal tandoor, nice and tender flavoured with yogurt and spices.
    .
For the main, we had the classic BUTTER CHICKEN Succulent chicken with aromatic spices and rich velvety texture and creamy flavour. Went extremely well with the garlic naan. LAMB VINDALOO was probably my favourite, we ordered it as hot, it wasnt as spicy as I expected but it does have a spicy kick A right amount of spices, very appetizing. I was surprised with generous servings of BASMATI RICE GARLIC NAAN was decent, tasted a lot of like garlic bread.
    .
MANGO LASSI was lovely, ROSE LASSI not so much , quite watery. Staff were friendly and attentive. I would def come back for more!!

I understand why some people say this is the best indian in Melbourne now, it was an absolutely phenomenal meal.

We ordered (to share among 4):
    – Tandoori chicken (half) – really tasty chicken (and not dry like other places) with that tandoor oven taste, with a brilliant dip/sauce to go with it
    – Fish curry – a must-order, the fish was so beautifully melt in the mouth and the curry was perfectly balanced
    – Lamb rogan josh – better than other rogan joshs I’ve had, and the lamb was super tender too
    – Chicken dum briyani – the chicken was very moist and rice was flavourful, but probably not as good as the curries
    – Naan (plain and garlic) and basmati rice – you can’t go wrong with naan

In terms of service, everything was great and there were constant water refills for those of us that couldn’t handle the spice. We didn’t have a booking but arrived right when it opened at 5.30, so I would definitely recommend booking a seat because it gets busy quite quickly.
The only thing we didn’t like was the choice of music – it was very noisy – but other than that, 5/5.

2nd time there and it didn’t disappoint. We visited on NYE and although we didn’t have a booking, we were seated fairly quickly. My only feedback is that the platter in the pics would have been better in a curry rather than dry on its own. The waitress didn’t know how to express herself clearly.. After we ordered the platter, the waitress said ‘curry?’, we said No, we want the platter, no other dishes thinking that’s what she meant. She didn’t bother explaining further. We thought the chicken on the platter would come in curries. Overall delicious food but could could have been better. We will come back again!

Lizzies first impression: had really high hopes for this place but it wasnt the greatest Indian Ive had in Melbourne.

Lizzie enjoyed: the curry was a generous serve – had good flavours and the meats were soft. The garlic naan was probably the stand out – flavoursome and everything a naan should be.

Lizzie did not enjoy: for some reason we ordered the fried noodles just to try and it was very disappointing. The so called saffron rice was just white rice with a bit of saffron.

Lizzie rates overall: this place is very local but I wouldnt say Id travel all the way just for this.

Loved the atmosphere here. This restaurant has a dine in area and another completely different setting on the back of the restaurant. It is like a small tent, almost makes you feel like you are back in india, having food in a pandal (tent). The food was tasty.
We had chilly paneer, butter naan, dal makhani and sahi paneer.
The food was tasty, nothing special. The ambiance and staff was friendly, that made the whole experience out of the world.

My 3rd time to this restaurant resulted in an upset stomach the next day like all the previous times! The food is so expensive, our dishes were dripping in oil and the taste was average.
No more trying this place anymore.

Always packed out. Make sure to make a reservation first if you plan to go during peak dinner times. The great thing is, theyre open till 10.30pm most nights and cater greatly for take away as well. My guilty pleasure? Take away butter chicken on a weekday night. And they always get it right. I love this place.

Must try – Rogan Josh & butter chicken
Garlic Naan on the side! And a refreshing Mango Lassi on the side.
A shame that the prices have increased here as it used to be considered fairly priced, I guess due to popularity, their dishes are more expensive now
