Overall good food and atmosphere and wine/beer selection. However pasta was a bit bland. Nice little hidden gem and very relaxed. There’s a Mountain View too.
We’d been hearing about the Whitfield Pub – officially known as the Mountain View Hotel – for many years. A strange acquaintance of ours had an obsession about the place. We finally made it there on a gorgeous sunny Tuesday, Cup Day down in Melbourne. It’s a very nice country pub. We had the Wagyu corned beef which was absolutely superb. Hard to fault with some lovely local wines. Recommended.
Keeps the pub in gastro pub. Top notch food and drink, relaxed environment, super knowledgeable staff. The holy trinity! Squid ink linguine was beyond good. Don’t miss it if you’re in the area.
We arrived for Saturday lunch and we felt welcomed as soon as we entered. Service from the staff was on point. I had the rib eye medium to rare with mushroom sauce – absolutely cooked to perfection, my partner had trout and loved every mouthful. We both had a red & white wine and we both thought the wine was too cold, but that is just our personal preference.
