We were there on a Tuesday evening and it was just our table and another table of 4 guests. Was a little daunting at first as there is no one there. But we really enjoyed our evening. Its a lovely place. Their degustation menu is drawn up like a map so you can see a path of what you are eating and where its taking you. Honestly, neither hubby nor I actually read the menu. We kinda skimmed on the pictures and thought yep, done. Loved all the dishes, but cant remember what they were. The dish I remember was being able to toast the marshmallow at the table. Thats right, out of all the dishes, this sprung into mind as it was soo different. The wait staff was lovely too. He had a accent which, more often than not, I couldnt understand when he was introducing the food to us. I was completely loss where we were on the degustation path. I asked him a question about the dish at that point, he realized that all this time he was explaining the journey to us, I didnt actually understand.and this was towards the end of the menu. It was kinda funny. A lovely night

Really great dining experience here! My family came for a bday celebration, and it was a really great choice. We opted for the degustation, and it was delicious! We were full and very satisfied by the end of the night. My sister, Mum and I added the optional extra course due to the fact it was baked cheese/cauliflower, and it was phenomenal, definitely worth the order! The staff were polite, and the sommelier was incredibly helpful. The venue was very classy, and provided mood lighting which was perfect for roasting the marshmallows. Great choice of venue for an event.

Somewhat hidden place with a slightly noisy bar of their own situated next door.
It was an extremely pleasant visit and I must say I have enjoyed most of the dishes that I have received on the night.

We decided to go with the Paddock to Plate Degustation Journey
Started off with some delicious Vegemite scrolls. I definitely wanted seconds on this.
Favourite dish of the night: Australian Sea Shells, Young Peas – This dish has definately bought back childhood memories for me and I really enjoyed it very much.
Cheese curd was an additional add on that we has ordered and when the waiter suggested to get 2 between 3 people I had actually regretted doing that because this cheese curd was way too delicious to have to share!
The best way to end the dining experience was with a beautiful camp fire marshmallow. Amazing! This was by far the best dining experiece I’ve ever had.
I do highly recommend Highline to famly and friends. Great price and well presented delicious food! Yes, I too will definitely be back for some more!

A few months ago, we came here for dinner, this belongs to the hotel style restaurant, elegant decoration, have professional service, menu is very distinctive, especially introduce their wine, must choose, all the food is to their farm, food let you eye-catching, to meet your sense of taste, this experience is very good

Went to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We ordered the 3 courses instead of the degustation.

They gave us a few small bites to start with and the marshmallow camp to end the dinner on top of that.

Food was very delicious, service and ambience was great. I had the duck for my main and it was perfectly cooked.

An amazing dinner and a wonderful night with friends. This restaurant is hidden away on Chapel St, through a door and up a flight of stairs to a nice open deck and then into a small but intimate dining space. The next 4.5hrs were then happily spent being immersed in Chef Simon Tarlington’s culinary vision with one of the best wine matchings I’ve had in Australia. We chose the paddock to plate degustation journey of 6 courses for $120 which is excellent value considering the exponentially rising price of degus meals in Melbourne compared to 5 years ago.

We started with a selection of appetisers including an amazing vegemite flavoured scroll (yum!), beef cubes (also yum) and something in an egg shell (can’t remember what it was but perhaps a vegetable puree of sorts). Next was the oak valley beef, beetroot, rye ice-cream and this was delicious and my favourite of the mains. The sea shells and pea dish was nice and the lamb course was very tender and tasty. The pork dish had an amazing XO sauce and at this point, I wished I had more of the delicious bread to scoop up the sauce. We opted for the extra cheese curd in pastry course and this was excellent, especially with the feijoa vinegar to balance the flavours. I loved the goats yoghurt panna cotta/sorbet dessert with crunchy honeycombs and the epic finale of chocolate marshmallow in bundaberg rum over pine cone was a delicious and wonderful way of finishing the meal. It left us wanting more yummy choc marshmallows, even though we were very full at this stage as the portions were quite generous. As an aside, we don’t recommend licking the rum as there’s a little extra ingredient in it to help the fire burn…!

I should also mention the amazing premium wine matching I had and the wonderful service given all night by our excellent sommelier who handpicked each one. The wines were introduced with a passion that enhanced the tasting experience, and each one was sublime. My favourites were the 2015 Guardoilvento from Sicily and the 2015 Saint Aubin from Burgundy. There was also a great selection of beers for non-wine diners.

Overall, a wonderful dining experience and highly recommended. The staff and service were brilliant, the food and beverages were excellent, and cannot wait to be back with family/friends.
