Visited early on a Friday night. Service was a bit slow at first, but after asking whether we were meant to order at the counter, staff were very attentive. Got the nasu burger, tempeh and cauliflower, and curry tots to share. Tots came first- what a surprisingly great combination. Whoever thought to top potato gems with Japanese curry sauce (and crispy curry leaves) was smart. My only complaint here is that they needed more sauce than was given. The burger was pretty underwhelming. The bun was greasy, the eggplant didn’t seem great quality (was hoping for eggplant tempura- not the eggplant equivalent of a potato cake), and the one slice of rubbery, unmelted cheese was a weird addition. Tempeh and cauliflower, on the other hand, was great. Both had really great flavour. There were only five tiny pieces of tempeh in the whole dish, sadly. I get that it’s more expensive than tofu, but for a dish that’s over $15, a bit more would be appreciated.
