Went for the Tuesday night mystery box and certainly wasnt disappointed! Tight Tuesdays is taken to a whole new level with a $45pp 4 course mystery box menu. The usual menu is restricted with a couple favourites but most tables were going for the mystery box; the servicing sizes are small but the size works out to be enough to taste all the courses and not be hungry when you go home.
The drinks menu isnt reduced on Tuesdays though! Highly recommend the caramel espresso martini! Delicious.

Cocktails were fantastic and happy to just go for this experience
Walking in and the venue look fantastic, happy I decided to organise our datenight here. They have limited seating in the inside bar section. Ifyou are not keen to stand while having cocktails suggest you go early to grab a spot. I was happy I made dinner reservations and would not need to stand for much longer.
When we were seated, I did experience some disappointment. We were positioned in between two other tables eating elbow to elbow with strangers, a very tight squeeze. It took away the intimacy and I felt involved in other peoples conversations. They should have just had a shared table if they wanted people to sit this close. The other disappointment had to do with the amount of Cigaret smell coming from the front door. The outside front area you can smoke, it’s amazing how much of the smell filters through. This was a talking point with my newly made stranger friends at the next table.
The concept is Japanese CalifornianFusion, a menudesigned for sharing. The food looks engaging and innovative and comes with that price tag however the staff don’t have the hospitality expertise to make it magical. The waitress we had could not even make a recommendation. Five-star looking food with takeaway service. There was a girl at the desk and she engaged more with her phone and taking snaps rather than customers. It made it feel so superficial and all of a sudden I felt punked. This savvy media Gen Z managed to make me walk through those doors. Iasked myself if Morris Jones was the real deal in Melbournes food scene.
The food was good but nothing spectacular. The dessert was amazing and probably the best I have tasted in a very long time. I would happily go back for drinks and I feel like I may have to try dinner again to be convinced.
Lizzies first impression: the venue took me by surprise as it was filled with floral walls, a live band and fancy dishes.
Lizzie enjoyed: I loved the concepts of the dishes. It was very creative and was never like Id tasted before. I especially enjoyed the dumplings as they were cooked really well and were very tasty. The squid ink charcoal chips was very different to what Im used to but it was delicious with the Aioli.
Lizzie did not enjoy: I feel like they tried very hard over the novelty of the dishes they forgot about the taste. There were a few dishes from the set menu that were very bland For example the rice of the salmon nigiri was poorly cooked and wasnt sour enough. The pork belly dish was cooked well but didnt have the vinaigrette to cut through the sweetness.
Lizzie rates overall: this place is right in the middle of the busy hub that is South Yarra – it is always bustling but Id stick to A La carte next time.
Morrison Jones has a great Happy couple of hours from 5 to 7. Espresso martinis, frozen margarita and cocktail of the day for $12 each . We had the espresso martini which was very professionally poured and tasted superb. I also had the cotd being the passionfruit daiquiri which was also a stunner. Really lovely venue too so could easily become a regular when we move to this side of town. Cheers
If I could rate this place a zero I would! The service was disgusting! The food even worse! I am generally a positive reviewer as you will see from my prior reviews but this place just made me really mad the food was so over priced and poorly cooked it was ridiculous! We had a set menu ended up costing us $150 a head for overcooked poor quality chewy beef and almost off salmon! In addition my friend mentioned the waitress was rude and got kicked out for absolutely no reason apparently she was drunk but she was actually just have a little fun she wasnt wasted! I was so shocked and have never seen this treatment before it was disgusting!! I honestly hope this place closes down soon!!! Its 0/10 from me
