WINNER EVERY TIME!
I have dined here about 5-6 times and I can confidently say that Mr Miyagi is consistently an all-round amazing restaurant! The only reason it looses a star is because1. You can’t make bookings for under 6 people, and 2. It definitely has menu items that are overpriced
THE FOOD
Man.. you can’t go wrong! I LOVE pretty much everything.
I have to say the Tacos are my favourite! I get them every time and love it.
The Handroll changes flavour on the regular, but is always delicious and a great option for sharing with others!
Buffalo Cheese Broccoli is SO delicious! Probably entirely because of the cheese, which is why the Wagyu Beef Ragu is also good, because its covered in it too!!
THE DRINKS
BEST COCKTAILS EVER!!!!
Seriously i have not had a cocktail from here I didn’t LOVE! They are so tasty, it doesn’t feel like they skimp out on the alcohol and there is a great variety. However at like $20 a cocktail, it is definitely overpriced.
MY FAVES INCLUDE:
-FROSE
– HELLO KITTY SOUR
– SALTED WATERMELON MARTINI
THE SERVICE
Every time I come here the service is amazing! The waiters put on a little show for you and try to inform you of how their menu works, they are super cool and always give great help / recommendations. Not to mention they are always up for a laugh by joking around with you, they really add a bit of fun to your night.
What more can I say? I love Mr M and if I could, i’d marry that cutie in a heartbeat!
(mostly for free tacos)
((ok entirely for the free tacos))
Great ambience and super friendly staff. Theres no bookings for groups under 6, however was worth the hour or so wait.
Everything was flavourful and you really cant go wrong with anything on their menu.
Alot of their items are made for sharing, which is great so you can try a bit of everything.
We also wanted to try the fried chicken but the order was missed.
Mr Miyagi has a great vibe, great cocktail list (their frose and frozen G&T is a must!!) and so many delicious options on their menu that I struggle to choose what to eat. I generally want it all but I never fail to order their addictive sushi taco. It’s so good! More please 🙂
Real rating 3.5
The ambience of this place is on point! We dined in during the day and actually felt a little underdressed. The staff were really lovely and helpful with the menu. We had to wait for a table as we didnt have a reservation but was given a seat at the communal table after about a 10 minute wait by their bar.
Having tried Mr. Miyagi at the Night Noddle Markets before we were excited to see what tacos they had on their menu. It was disappointing to find that they only had one choice 🙁
The menu is made for sharing so we ordered a selection including the taco, tofu, broccoli, chicken bao and ribs. The highlight was the chicken bao as it was covered in ramen and then fried. The crunch this added to the dish was perfect! The chicken ribs were a bit flavourless and dry even with the dipping sauce. The brocolli had a bucket load of cheese on top but was also a bit bland. For the price you pay, I also expected that all the dishes should be served on proper plates and not in cardboard boxes….
Set in a great spot on Chapel Street, Mr Miyagi is easily one of the best Asian/Japanese fusion restaurants in Melbourne. Definitely not for those on a budget however! The ambience is lovely, cosy with great decor and friendly staff. The food was absolutely superb and very vegetarian friendly. The highlight for us absolutely would have been the tofu baos and the corn/popcorn dish. Placing corn with popcorn was certainly unusual but it absolutely worked. Great cocktail and drinks menu, youre paying around $20 per cocktail which is about standard these days. For 2 people and 2 cocktails we paid $120 total.
The feed me option would have been ideal however Mr Miyagi unfortunately do not allow alterations which I found a little odd – everywhere Ive been will do an alternative to a meat dish when getting a banquet but no problem! Highly recommend, mouth is still drooling.
I never would have expected a taco that was sushi inspired to be THIS good but it is, it truly is.
Bustling and located in Windsor, Mr Miyagi is cool and hip in the afternoon and classy and chill at night but the star of the show, their Salmon Nori Taco.
Its filled to the BRIM with salmon and the mayonnaise on top is so good!! I never like mayonnaise but theirs is an absolute pleasure. The rice is abundant too and the nori which is supposed to be the shell is so appetising. Everything about this Japanese taco is so amazing.
The ambience is really nice and really cool as well! Abit noisy but nothing too bad.
The price is abit steep for a taco, however. For $15 each, Id say its abit on the higher side. Mr Miyagi is definitely not for the broke or the ones on a diet.
Unfortunately, giving a 4.5 isnt possible so lets pretend I gave them that! Id definitely return!
Lizzies first impression: this is my all time favourite asian fusion restaurant in the whole of Melbourne. They have great vibes and staff are super friendly here.
Lizzie enjoyed: my favourite of course is the mr miyagi special – the nori tacos. Ive also tried them at night noodle markets and its something that I go back to time and time again without fail. Too bad they opted for pulled pork sausages this year.
Lizzie did not enjoy: some of the dishes are very small so make sure you order more dishes so you can try more!
Lizzie rates overall: A great place for date night or a big group – the ambience of this place is great.
