Firstly, I have to say that I love the name Stoned Pizza. I did get the giggles reading the Stoned menu. They aren’t very subtle with their pizza names but when it comes down to it pizza is cooked on a stone!
The pizza scene in Melbourne is competitive. Stoned is positioned in the heart of WIndsor. Perfect for those who have the munchies.
While I was invited to the launch, and had a really fun time trying a selection of pizzas, Young Henry beers and proseco. We ended up chatting to a couple of randoms and we bought the simple and stoned pizza to share. It was the pizza that we all fell in love with. The caramelised onion was something that you don’t see a lot on pizzas. The ‘tomato-less’ pizza based is compensated with fior di latte, goats fetta, rosemary, and honey! It’s been a while since a new pizza flavour impressed me, and this one did.
The venue itself is nice, brand new, and there’s more seats that you’d think there would be.
Some hardcore marketing and more people knowing about this place, and stoned will have staying power.
We were invited to the Stoned pizza launch party last night. What we ate was absolutely delicious and I was a huge fan of the prawn harissa pizza in particular. This didnt have the heat I was expecting of harissa but given I dont have a high spice tolerance that suited me just fine.
What was disappointing to see however was the quantity of pizzas coming out which was quite insufficient. I figure if the kitchen claimed they were pumping them out as quick as possible then they will certainly struggle to keep up with demand when the restaurant is at capacity as it was a long time between slices. Great central location though
Trendy little pizza place on chapel street with a cool courtyard out the back for drinks in the warmer weather. Pizzas are delicious and they also offer a range of share plates and sides. The pickle chips are a must try and the meatballs were also really tasty. Out of the pizzas the courgette was a bit hit but they were all well received. Fun cocktail menu too!
